Health Buzz: Climate Change May Trigger More Allergies

Three main factors related to climate change fuel increases in allergens, according to the Union of Concerned Scientists: CO2, rising temperature and an extended spring season.

First, scientists report that Carbon dioxide, the heat-trapping gas that is the primary cause of our warming planet, increases the growth rate of many plants and increases the amount and potency of pollen. Second, rising temperatures extend the growing season and the duration of allergy season. And finally, an extended spring season alters the amounts of blooms and fungal spores that are known to exacerbate allergy symptoms. If you're interested, more information is available at this link:

Allergies huh? Well, climate change is also affecting my blood pressure. Seems that since climate change was "discovered" by Al Gore, my blood pressure has been steadily rising. Who knew?

I absolutely agree about climate change. My cat has started staying out later at night, and I'm sure it is the warmer evenings.

My grass has started to grow earlier in the spring season... and I am sure it is the year warming up sooner that causes it to grow.

and lastly... we have had a lot of rain were I live; it must be all that ice melting at the North Pole.

i now know not to trust a thing that us news says, they support junk science, anytime you have grants dependant on a paticular outcome your going to get tainted data, or in the case of east anglia, they just shred the data because it was worse to let anyone see just how far they went in fabricating it,

This is the same organization that stated the Himalayan glaciers by 2035, eating meat added to global warming, and the rain forest! So I can honestly say I do not take anything NWF or the WWF even publishes! I have this suggestion for usnews, you should report news from REAL SCIENCE! Not opinion pieces from NWF or WWF!

Another sky is falling article. Allergy season has come two whole weeks earlier than in past decades, what 2 decades, 3? What about the year without a summer in the 1800's?

All politics all the time has distorted science. It has helped fund outcome based studies in many many fields especially this one. I could name others just as controversial like AIDS but because of political correctness and expediency brilliant researchers are purged from academic circles and their myth busting studies are ridiculed and avoided because the almighty research grant dollar drags science in the direction they want the research to go.
