The advice they drag out for diabetics every year is getting pretty old. Low-fat eating isn't that important for diabetics. Low-carb eating is what's important. If you are eating a traditional turkey dinner, ask the cook to prepare you a sweet potato without marshmallows. Instead of rolls, get a slice of whole wheat bread from the kitchen (or don't eat bread at all). Avoid rice like the plague, as it is very high in carbs, and have as little stuffing as you can stand. Of the remaining foods -- salad, turkey, vegetables, gravy -- eat all you want. Other things to avoid or minimize: cranberry jelly, egg nog, dessert. It's quite possible to fill up on turkey, vegetables, gravy and a sweet potato, and be satisfied.

I have celiac disease/gluten intolerence and what I do is cook my own turkey and 2 sides (sides are enough to share) and bring my own little meal.

It sucks, but it's better than getting sick.

Some people just don't "get it" when it comes to food allergies.
