People tend to think of almonds or walnuts as the "best" nuts, but, Blatner says, "all nuts are very good sources of unsaturated fats." Nuts are also great sources of various phytochemicals. If you're just sprinkling a few on food, nuts are pretty equal, says Blatner. But if you're going to snack by the handful, be aware of portion sizes: 7 or so Brazil nuts have about the same number of calories as 24 almonds, 45 pistachios, 14 walnut halves, or 150 pine nuts.
