Am not married not married yet or pregnant but I really and never want to be fat in my life. I hate being fat, don't want to think of it or imagine it or even see it.

Strange, there are numerous studies completely contradicting the first paragraph suggesting fat babies become fat adults! the opposite has been found to be true, just look into the correlation beween higher birthweight and lifelong health. I am guessing the complications of obese pregnancy, including c sections (which carry a 20% higher liklihood of type 1 diabetes for the child and increased allergy risks) may be more to blame for problems - or more likely still, the lifestyle that is imparted on the child by parents whose habits are clearly less than ideal. I like the advice in this article, but could do without the pseudoscience!

I hate articles like this one. Pregnancy weight gain, in a great sense, has to do with genetics. In no way does it mean you're going to give birth to a sumo wrestler if you pack on the pounds. When I was pregnant for my daughter, I gained 63 pounds, after a starting weight at 135, which was average for my height. She was a healthy 7.5lbs, and the reason I was so heavy was due in part to an excess of amniotic fluid, which just happens sometimes. I went back to my pre pregnancy weight in normal time, never had any indications of health risks with the weight gain, simply was heavier than "normal" pregnant women gain. Now pregnant with my second child eight years later, and my doc ensured me that I will probably gain "above average" again, and that I was not to worry as long as I was still healthy, i.e still charting normally in blood pressure (which I have never been high blood pressure) and that I didn't have any indications for gestational diabetes. Screw all these people who put the entire population of fertile women in the same boat, we are not all the same, and we are not all going to go through pregnancy in the same fashion.

Plus, the last thing a pregnant lady needs is for her doctor or some article to tell her she is gaining an excessive amount of weight. It is NOT okay for a pregnant woman to diet, so as long as the pregnancy is going smoothly, leave her alone.

I am not an expert, but I doubt that being overweight during pregnancy is the cause of childhood obesity. I think it is more about lifestyle. If you have a lifestyle that makes it easier to gain weight, then you will probably gain excess weight during pregnancy and your children will be overweight.

And it isn't easy keeping your weight gain at bay during pregnancy--it is possible, but it isn't easy because you are all out of whack and those cravings!! Just because you gain excess weight, doesn't mean your children are doomed to be obese. I didn't do so well my first pregnancy, but much better the second time around because I knew what to expect. I wrote about my lessons learned the first pregnancy that helped me keep my weight in check the second time on my blog: http://www.fruitful-living.net/2012/06/how-not-to-gain-too-much-weight-during.html

Even though I was overweight the first pregnancy, I truly doubt my first born will be obese. Hopefully I have done a good enough job of expanding her palette of nutritious foods and encouraging physical activity -- and so far, her weight gain has been on track for her age and height.

Basically what the article is saying is eating 500 calories of junk food (ie; mcdonalds donuts and chips) is not the same as eating 500 calories of fruits and vegitables. So if you gained 70 ilbs and only ate junk food the CHANCES are your child will be obese. Also how you raise them alters the CHANCES! DURR

I gained so much weight from pregnancy and it was really hard to work it off, once I managed to lose about 20-30lbs my breasts looks saggy and tired, I tried to use some natural breast herbs http://breastenlargementcream.ca/natural-breast-enlargement-herbs/ but it didn't have too much effect.

Does anyone know something that works?

Thanks xoxox
