the problem with experts is they end up nearly allways being wrong in what ever field there are experts in.these cholesterol lowering magarines are full of chemicals and cause harm to our bodies.as for cholesterol our ancestors ate full fat every thing fried there food in lard, spread lard on there bread so there cholesterol intake was off the scale and yet we have lowered our cholesterol by 90% in many cases and we still get heart attacks may be bad fats are not the problem if they where we would all be fit and well now.I believe Sugar white flour processed foods dehydration and prescription drugs are more to blame than fats my grand parents wher never sick and lived to be in there late ninties and died in there sleep from old age i think ill take up there diet of lard and natural food it worked for them.

I don't really believe anyone anymore in regards to their view on foods unless it is beyond the obvious. What's that... (fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables, whole grain bread). Anyone who tells me that butter is worse than margarine without consideration of the thousands of other variables that affect our well being is flat wrong. A diet consists of many different components and quantities. You add to the equation a persons metabolism and exercise and the model now becomes unwieldy.

People in the US are fixed on these theories and their still overweight. Instead, they ought to start eating very simply and start exercising. Then when they have their helping of Pasta they can put a swab of natural butter on their whole grain bread and enjoy while being healthy. Versus some synthetic concoction made by mankind.

You're being somewhat harsh. According to the article these experts were asked their opinions by the writer. They weren't pontificating on their own. These issues have been somewhat controversial for years. Having followed nutritional questions for decades, I think the experts' responses were quite measured and appropriate. My only disagreement relates to their opinion on skim milk. I've been drinking it for years and it tastes great. Even 2% milk is undrinkable now!

I cannot tolerate artificial ingredients because of food allergies, and just have to trade one thing off for another, a constant balancing act. Research is good - have they ever done one on the effects of food allergies, or food sensitivities?

Do these "experts" ever read the research literature? It would seem they simply regurgitate what they've been told, or read in the news. Then they have the nerve to lecture those of us who have studied the research.
