Or how about they just put less sugar and salt in stuff without replacing it with fake crap? Yeah? No would never happen. Those are the people who are stpid not the ones who go to the store and buy the food that is there.

High Fructose Corn Syup is insidious, it "short circuits" the passage of LEPTIN, this natural body chemical is what's sent to the brain to tell it the stomach is FULL, therefore you don't get this warning & OVEREAT far too easily.

Another side effect is that the more High Fructose Corn Syrup you eat, the more you crave, both itself & sugar along with it, anything sweet, which tips the balance as far as keeping your blood sugar normal, then all of a sudden, along comes Diabetes, with no outward symptoms & undiagnosed (for the present) its a "ticking time bomb".

For self preservation, check ALL food labels, avoid anything which has High Fructose Corn Syrup in large amounts, if its included in the first 5 (five) ingredients consider a different product with LESS sweetener, the problem with this is the fact that its "cheaper & sweeter" than sugar, YOU CAN'T REALLY GET COMPLETELY AWAY FROM IT, BUT CUTTING DOWN THE AMOUNT EATEN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE HELPS (new & improved, where have I heard that before?) that means the manufacturerer can make that EXTRA 37/1000's of a cent per bottle of product, can you say GREED?

Why is it up to the government to tell us what to eat or drink? As adults, it should be up to us what WE eat & what our children eat. If we are too stupid to not eat what is bad for us the we should pay the price. Since when has the government EVER had a program that was better than what WE know? LIMIT what the government can tell us to do and this country will be better off.

Am I the only one who feels that it is really really weird to hear all this talk about legalizing pot, while talking about banning salt and sugar?

If people realized the consequences of added sugar and salt most would agree to eliminate it in our foods. Sugar causes inflamation in the body and excess belly fat which in turn causes alot of health problems. Three of the biggest killers, type 2 Diabetes, heart disease and certain types of cancer. And we all know all the effects of salt. There are plenty of natural sweateners out there that don't have the same medical effects as sugar, the food industry should be required to use them. I find it appalling that we're told to watch our sugar/salt intake that processed foods are no good for us (which i agree) but if you try and eat healthy and buy organic natural foods it cost you two to three times as much. Why don't they do something about that also? Who can afford it now a days? Did you know that your fruit and vegetables at the supermarket are actually picked prior to being ripe and then put in a room and sprayed with a chemical gas to bring out the color in it to make it look ripe? The government is allowing the food industry to poison us slowly but then complains when people demand affordable health care. If they did something about what they are doing to our food, there would be less disease and illness hence less need for medical attention. Not too hard to figure out but after all we are talking about our govenment.

I would like to none or much much less alt and sugar in processed foods. In addition I find it very interesting that there are no TV ads running saying that high fructose corn syrup is ok in moderation and makes the person questioning it look like an imbecile, that stuff is crap

I find it amazing at all the people that say NO MORE REGULATIONS. Do you realize that you dont get a say in anything dealing with the food industry? ou dont even get a choice in the process. Those who talk about not be regulated are being regulated. When they started mass producing foods, no company stopped to ask the people if they wanted perservitives in there foods, they just put them there. We as the american people dont get a say in anything dealing with regulations. The powers that be makes the all mighty dollar decision and then we have to live with the consequences.

I for one dont want salt and sugar additives in my food. If I want to put salt and sugar in my food I will add it. Just like we got use to the additives we can get use to the way food taste without them.It will take time, but we will get use to it. Plus the power will be back where it should be, with the consumer.

yes they should ban salt and sugar and all other food products other than bread...We need to make sure that everyone is healthy.

From now on we should all have avaailablity to only government made food which will consist of vitaminized bread and purified water.

Of course this plan will be optional for congress due to their exception way of living!

I think they should just put LESS salt and sugar in foods. America would go crazy if there were sugar and salt free foods. Think about it. ;)
