As an RN I've seen my share of sport concussions. Unfortunately, even as we are educating the patients and parents about not returning too soon, the eyes are rolling and the kids are saying, "Mom! The finals are this weekend!" and the parents say, "We'll see hun."
We know they won't be compliant and its out of our hands. It's the same as when we advise wearing helmets biking or skateboarding.
Noone believes their child will be involved in a serious accident but it happens, and sadly, some could have been prevented.
I guess a trophy is more important than a healthy future.
