Having had IBS since 1983, and using every treatment and medication for over 17 years, I found that clinical hypnotherapy for IBS was very helpful and it has much higher symptom reduction or elimination results than this study shows. In fact, clinical hypnotherapy for gut-specific or gut-directed protocols, have shown higher efficacy ratings in clinical studies done since 1984. And it is effortless to do, with huge positive results.
The protocol I used was the IBS Audio Program 100, ibscds.com, which is a set of CDs or MP3 recordings of several sessions you can listen to in the privacy of your own home and the program comes with complete support if you need it.
I went from being almost house-bound, to having wonderful results. I was so severe that I did complete the program a few times, but it worked more effectively and long-term than any other medication, diet, supplement, or treatment method. I did it as a last resort, and should have done it first.
This study reinforces the results of similar mind-body approaches - there is hope.

I never eat raw vegetables. Everything is always cooked. I eat lots of whole grain cereal except NO wheat. I use Rice Milk instead of dairy. I never eat beef. My diet is made up of chicken and fish. I also found the fruit with the most fiber content and always add to my cereal. (blackberries, raspberries). I also incorporated 2 supplements in my diet. MOXXOR Omega 3 and Medi Clear by Thorne. I have had such luck with this combination. I am 65 and have suffered with IBS most of my life. I didn't realize that I had some kind of disease until just recently. I know you probably don't want to use the brand name of these supplements, but it certainly might help someone. I tried some of the powdered fiber (like Metimucil), but they were too harsh for me. Thank you.

Meditation is indeed helpful in our body and mind. It is beneficial in reducing stress, eliminating pain, and increasing one’s attention. I combined meditation with the Yuen method, a specialized qigong. By eliminating stress in my body that causes physical pain, I can improve my health condition. After I performed meditation, I feel very light and relax. Most of the time, our body is storing negative life experiences that causes us to weaken physically and emotionally every time we remember that memories. Through Yuen method, I simply give a command DELETE to my energy systems to clear out the negative blocks. So when the meditation is done, you are instructing your mind and body to relax. Through this the energy in the body flows well.
