It's easy to use food as a crutch. Maybe you had a particularly stressful day, and that sugar rush from a pint of Ben and Jerry's is instant gratification. Or perhaps the problem lies deeper, and food fills a void in your life, like lack of a loving relationship or passion for your job. Only by acknowledging and examining these emotional hardships will you develop a healthy relationship with food, says Geneen Roth, author of the 2010 book, Women, Food and God. The following five tactics, she says, can help you overcome emotional eating.

i believe this to be true, i have been divorced a year, and no luck of search for another mate, i seem to lean alot twords food as a ''crutch''. i mean, what food does is give fulfilment where there is none. openly i admit i do overeat sometimes when i'm lonely.

I didnt realy get anything from this article. All it reallly did was telll me that I had issues with eating food when Im happy, sad or stressed. If i wanted somone to tell me I had issues i would have gone to my parents. I need tips and this article did not help me with it.
