Yo-yo dieting is rampant in Hollywood: Some of our favorite stars regularly dip from size 10 to 4 and back, and flashbulbs capture every bulge and muffin top. The health risks of yo-yo dieting haven't been settled, but what's crystalline is that it's a vicious cycle with emotional consequences—like an overwhelming sense of failure. Yo-yo weight changes only happen when one uses a daily diet. It's the body's insurance policy against what it interprets as potential starvation. The body is programmed to fight the daily diet. If one diets every-other-day, not only will a regain not happen, but also a maintenance program is unnecessary.
