Can you use Greek yogurt in recipes that call for sour cream? Can it be used in casseroles as a substitute for sour cream?

I went to a biometric screening today and I was told they are seeing a rise in cholesterol over all in people that ate Greek Yogurt. I will have to buy the low fat or fat free. My cholesterol was up too. It's too bad too, because it is so good.

Hi There,
Re your article, Fat. Be wary of Greek yogurt's fat content. In just 7 ounces, Fage's full-fat Greek yogurt packs 16 grams of saturated fat—or 80 percent of your total daily allowance if you're on a 2,000-calorie diet. (That's more than in three Snickers bars.) Dannon's regular full-fat yogurt has 5 grams of saturated fat in an 8-ounce serving. Saturated fat raises total and "bad" LDL cholesterol levels, increasing the risk for heart disease. Read nutrition labels carefully. If you're going Greek, stick to low-fat and fat-free versions.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with full fat yogurt or full fat coconut milk, all of your important organs, heart etc are surounded by fat to protect them, low fat milk (homegenised) or anything low fat is no good for you whatsoever, there is no goodness in them.
Your cholestrol in your body is regulated by your body, you might think low fat products lower cholestrol, you would be totally wrong, it anoys me that food manufacturers mislead the general public.

Eating saturated fat does NOT increase cholesterol of any kind. That is a myth that has been proven false time and again, yet remains in circulation because it perpetuates the myth that cholesterol is to be feared and drugged. Nonsense! Do your homework!

Dr. Oz also mentioned that Greek yogurt helps with cold sores. What are those benefits, & how exactly does it help them?

I would have to guess that making greek yogurt from raw milk is MUCH healthier than buying it from the store. Homogenized products are harder to digest and harder for your body to suck nutrients out of. Find a cow and make your own. Easiest stuff to make in the world.

I don't totally agree, full fat, saturated fat is healthier. Just eat less if one is worried. But the fat helps us digest and intake the calcium and vitamins.
