Is it possible that such cravings are partly a result of the information age inducing sub-clinical shortage (nor necessarily deficit) of certain dietary fats that may appear in trace amounts even in the unhealthier of the fatty foods? The smartest person I ever met (rated almost 2600 in chess, among other talents) was as big as a house, and swore he couldn't perform at peak levels during tests without eating much fatty food, so ever since I've wondered about that.
