Eating small amounts of garbage will make you lose weight, but at what cost? Losing weight should be safe, effective and under a Doctor supervision. In one month - I lost almost 30 pounds, lowered my blood pressure and my doc took me off cholesterol meds. All thanks the the Doc at www.idealnewyou.com.

The Anti Obesity drug makers and diabetes drug makers take in 10 billion$$$$ every year with no cure!!

Food Chemicals are the cause of the diabetes and obesity crisis NOT a McDonalds

The FDA and Drug makers know this and are laughing to the Billionaire$$$ bank!

The food chemicals break the gut(insulin) and this is the cause of the diabetes and obesity crisis

A filmmaker has been reversing diabetes and Obesity in now 10 countries and the drug makers do not promote the story

just google SPIRIT HAPPY DIET

After reading many of the comments, I find it amazing how many people seem to hear only what they "want" to hear in this article. What role does this play in the big picture of poor diets, eating habits, and the self perception issues that plague so many?

This only shows there is much to learn about the minimum requirement for proteins, vitamins, calories, etc. to maintain good health. We need long term studies using lifers in prison adhering to different diets. Even the same people trying different diets for over the years to determine it's the diet, not the person, that makes the difference. The two things impressing me, are the diet of a man in India who died at 147 yrs. old, living on about 4 different foods, and the woman living to 117 on a diet of buttermilk and greens.

I know it is trite. but my Grandmother and Mother always said"All things in moderation." This experimetn just shows taht you can have anything you want as long as you don't overeat. Exercise and controlling how much not what yopu eat is the key.

I think the prof. makes a good point. I still think there is evidence that the body's insulin response leads to greater storage of carbs as fat, and I have lost weight low carbing. Years ago I tried vegetarianism. We can debate all day about the optimum human diet, but I think the main point is that there is no "demon food", and that we need to stop demonizing people based on what they eat. There are people who think you will drop dead within days for eating lots of sugar, lots of meat, not exercising, smoking, being overweight, etc. But the truth is that the human body is a lot more resilient than we give it credit for, and that our starting genetics make a big difference, and I think finally that it takes a long time for problems to show up if we do eat an unhealthy diet. This also puts the lie to so much dietary science of putting someone on a low fat, or atkins diet, or whatever, for only a month. And how hard it is to do this science well, which would involve making someone follow a random diet for 20 years for some study, to see what happens. We should recognize how little we know, cut other people and ourselves some slack, and enjoy life. But if you're really overweight, stick with low carb, lol!

There are healthy choices in food that are recommended to be taken, but in quantities that will be acceptable so that the calories taken in do not go beyond what's needed.

There are other food classified as junk that can be eaten in moderation, provided there are no illnesse that they are contraindicated for, like diabetes or hypertension.

There are exercises recommended depending on a person's needs. There are strength-training ones for developing muscle tone. There are aerobic exercises to improve cardio-pulmonary function.

There is resting metabolism. Even while we sleep, we still burn calories.

We just have to always be conscious of what our body needs.
