Everything in life has side effects and risks, and it's up to individuals to weigh the risks, not ambulance-chasing lawyers and/or Big Brother. Being born is terminal. Should new mothers and fathers sue hospitals that deliver their children?

Does anyone know of a good law firm in Southern California who will take up litigation against the manufacturers of these Actos products?

Made in Japan??? Really???? Wasn't it not long ago that china poisoned our dogs and cat though the dog and cat food they sold to the U.S.? Now Japan is selling Actos to the U.S. that causes Blatter Cancer in 40% of the patents taking it??? Maybe we need to take control of our own health and through better diets, eating right and taking a good supplement made right here in the U.S. everyone would be better off. My family takes a supplement called Trevo.....check it out, We have not found anything to match it or that even comes close in comparison on the market. http://www.trevo1st.trevobuilder.com

I have been on Actos for at least 10 years, as well as Glipizide and Januvia. In the past eight years, my highest HA1C was 7.2 and I just had one at 6.9 after a long bout of a virus. All my other HA1c's have been in the 6.0-6.3 range. I am already at a higher risk for bladder cancer due to taking cytoxin for breast cancer 14 years ago ( during which the diabetes was dx). I really don't like being on it without having periodic testing, so how do I relay that to my physician without sounding like I am trying to do the doctor's job? I realllllly don't want to deal with another round of cancer if I can avoid it.

I have been on Actos for 5 years, should i stay on this drug or try to find another similiar drug? I am 75 years old and i don't have any side effects as of this day. I do get up to urinate at least once a night. I did have blood in my urine about a year ago and my urologist said it was an infection and it went away with drugs. What do you think i should do? Stop taking Actos and take another drug? I would appreciate a responce to my e-mail if possible.

Thank you,

OMG!!!!....one just cannot win....my endocrinologist has opted to take me off Actos (after nearly 2 years on it) because of the bladder cancer risk. I also have a high HBA1C so I need something which is going to make me sensitive to insulin as Actos does. I am already taking insulins and metformin so there isn't anything else. Let's hope researchers happen upon some miracle drug soon which will cure sufferers of the disease of diabetes!!!

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers that the popular diabetes drug Actos® (pioglitazone) may increase the risk of Bladder Cancer when used for more than a year.

I was taken off of metformin, after several years, when I develped chronic kidney disease (stage 3), This is due to the bp and bs over decades of taking medicine. Okay, so I am still on glipizide

which various in dosage per day. Since I am losing weight, I have reduced the glipizide to accommodate..and have stopped the actos

(except for very occasional use). I was told several years ago, whenmy sugar went up over 9, to use the actos. It brought it down

quickly and permanently. My new doctor thinks, the seldom ue, bombined with its benefits, outweights any risk ofbladdr cancer.

My entire mother's family eventually died of diabetes..my became very ill at 74 and died at 77 of its vicious attack on various

body organs, includin of course the heart.

The weight loss has lowered the bs...and the need for medicine, inmy opinion. But, I will keep the actos around for

insurance.

Me thinks blaming the doctors on this very complicated disease

which is chronic...and has so many facets, is, to be frank,

irresponsible and not very smart.

Bitter Melon is a natural extract that effectively reduces blood sugar by increasing the body's ability to process glucose (Sugar).

People (Especially Diabetics) who take bitter melon extract realize a drastic reduction in blood sugar levels without all the undesirable side effects of Actos. In fact, those diabetics who are on an insulin injection routine find their requirements for insulin injections diminish appreciably.

For a member of the medical community to state that "there are no alternatives" is a blatant lie. This statement equates to a grocer stating that Folgers Ground coffee is the only choice on the grocer's shelf because there are no other equivalents to coffee (such as instant coffee).

Maybe Dr. Joseph Giangola and Takeda Pharmaceuticals North America Inc. should consider telling the truth. Both the Pharmaceutical companies and the doctors of North America are more concerned with making money, than treating patients in a way that makes them well. After all, chronically Ill patients fill the waiting rooms, which equates to more dollars in the doctor's pockets. If doctors weren't being paid under the table in kick backs to prescribe potentially harmful drugs (even when realistically and internationally recognized and proven alternatives are available ), maybe doctors would act like doctors - and not money hungry opportunists.

if you are a diabetic - you should consider bitter melon extract. If you don't, then you are just sheep waiting in line at the slaughter house.
