Since those who now have had type 1 diabetes for a half century or more would have spent at least 20 years of their diabetic life with absolutely no capacity for good blood sugar control at all, since home glucometers were not available, it is utter nonsense to claim that good glycemic control had anything to do with the better prognosis in this group. This just shows that whatever the research finding, the ideological propaganda has to be restated.
