I started taking metamucil along with a prescription to fix an irritable bowel problem while I was in my early 20s. Long after the bowel problem has been corrected, I have continued to take a heaping teaspoon of metamucil every night before bed and now I am 52 years old. When I get blood work done it comes out showing an over all healthy out look. I have recently started watching what I eat because at my age it's time. Being 52 years old and still having normal blood preasure of usually 120/80 when checked, while up to now I have never really watched what I eat is amazing. I have just started doing the insanity workouts that would kill most guys my age and my body handles it with grace. All in all, I attribute my heart health and cardio elastisity to the metamucil I have taken every night for the past 32 years. It seems to ussur out all the bad stuff that I poison my system with daily, and the next morning "boom", gone, out of my system. Another plus to metamucil that I have found to work quite well is that sometimes I have a few more drinks in the evening than I really should, and I know I "should" have a hang over the next day, but taking the metamucil does something to prevent that from happening. Metamucil is an amazing product and I would recommend it to anyone that cares about being healthy and feeling/looking young well into your 50's "so far". My hats off to it's manufacturers...

As one who has been basically healthy, 78 years old, and right now takes only a tylenol every now and then, I can vouch for this way of eating. The one problem is my weight. I still need to weigh 75 pounds less than I do. The only way I can feel energetic and not hungry, is to eat this type of food. I am not a big sweets eater. Most of my life I was told no carbs, and you cannot stay on that forever. You go no carbs, you binge eat sooner or later. I have to have carbs to survive. What you have here, is what works best for me. And, even if I don't lose a lot at a time, I can live on this and be content. I think this is one of the best articles on what we should eat I have seen. It does work. Growing up, this is what we ate. We never had deserts during the week. it was fruit or some jello. Only on Sunday was there a slice of cake, or pie. We enjoyed it so much more. We walked everywhere, and we walked together. They can laugh all they want at "getting back to the basics". but that is what is needed. Great article!

The Full Plate Diet is a very inexpensive and easy way to lower cholesterol. You can also take a look at CHIP (coronary health improvement project) which has been medically proven to lower cholesterol, reverse heart disease and help control diabetes.

My husband has been told he needs to lower his high cholesterol of 420 and also he is on the verge of becoming a diabetic. But his blood pressure is good and he is not over weight. What do I do for his diet???????????
