This sounds more like the story of the camel's nose under the tent than anything else.
What does it matter how or where the s0-called altruistic scientists get the embryonic stem cell whether through donation or coercion? It is still the use of a created human life for experimentation only. Obtaining a correctly completed consent form does not change the intent of the person obtaining the stem cells. It definitely demeans the moral law and the value of human life.
It is obvious that this will be only the beginning. Broadening and expanding the access to human preborn stem cells will go the way of Roe v Wade. That was only supposed to "help" a few desperate women save their own lives. Now 4000 plus babies a day are destroyed in the womb with about as much thought as an ear piercing.
President Obama's authorization to access stem cells is a move closer to a full implementation of the Utilitarian ethic on life. No life has any greater significance than what it can contribute to the well being of society.
