Mood booster: Turkey
Don't reserve turkey for Thanksgiving: It's such a potent mood-booster that it deserves to be eaten year-round, says registered dietitian Elizabeth Somer, author of Eat Your Way to Happiness. Turkey is loaded with tryptophan, a chemical that stimulates serotonin production and calms the brain. Insufficient seratonin can increase the likelihood of depression and other mood disorders. Turkey also packs protein, which helps keep you energetic and alert.
