I drink 5-9 cans of coke a day. When i tried to stope "cold turkey" I began to have severe headaches and nausea within 12 hrs. I checked a different site and it said nausea is a sign of severe adddiction. I really want to stop but when i try to slow it down, my body reacts. Can anyone help me?

@AMY BREWER: YES, that is dangerous for a woman of your age and weight! Where are you getting all these coffees from? Do your school teachers allow this consumption in their classrooms? SHIT!

I had drank coffee all my life. Everyday as a matter of fact.Woke up to no coffee, didn't think any thing about it,within a hour or so I began to feel sick at my stomach and a massive headache and could not get off the couch. Had flu like symtoms. Thought I was just sick. The next morning I realized I hadn't dranked any real coffee and I sent my husband to MacDonalds and got 3 large cups of coffee, within 2 hours I felt much better. I did not realize how my body was so dependant on caffeine. Have to find a way to quit. Very scary to be honest. By the way I drink about 2 pots aday for many years. Can anybody help!!

HELLO OUT THERE. NOW I TOOK MY FIRST COFFEE IN 1938 AT AGE 10. THEN BY AGE 11 I WAS DRINKING 1 TO 2 CUPS PER DAY. FROM AGES 12-16 I CONSUMED ABOUT 1-4, THOUGH IN THERE FROM 14-16 IT WAS ALWAYS 2-4 CUPS. SO I RECKON I COULD JUST SAY I DRANK 1 TO 2 CUPS PER DAY FROM AGE 12-13. SO ANYWAYS BY AGE 17 I WAS UP TO 4-6 CUPS PER DAY UNTIL I WAS 20. I WAS IN THE MILITARY A U-BOAT IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC. NOT MUCH TO DO BUT DRINK COFFEE AND SMOKE CIGARETTES, WHICH I HAD SMOKED ABOUT 14 PER DAY BY THAT SAME TIME. AGE 21-25, 5 TO 7 CUPS. AGE 25-28 DRINK 7 TO 12 CUPS, AGE 29-36 THINGS LEVELED OUT AT 13 CUPS EVERY DAY. AGE 36-74 I RAMPED UP TO OVER 18 CUPS PER DAY. NOW I'M DARN NEAR 85 YEARS OLD FEELIN YOUNG, I CREDIT MY COFFEE TO THAT. NOW I TRY TO DRINK BETWEEN 19 AND 24 CUPS A DAY GIVER TAKE 4. SO REALLY BETWEEN 16 TO 28. IM ALWAYS HEALTHY, GREAT JOINTS AND HEARING AND MIND, ONLY HAD A SLIPPED DICS AND A STROKE BUT THAT'S NORMAL FOR A GRAMPS LIKE ME.

Coffee is certainly addictive, and my experience only shows the synergistic affects with acid (the street drug). In the early '90s, I was teching with a certain post-Fishbone/ proto-Nu Metal band, I'd drink about 1 gallon of coff. per day! Acid usually factored into that funky equation, it was the only thing I could find to sedate the caffiene paranoia. Well, thanks for caring about yourself.

I am over 50 and I have had insulin-dependent diabetes (IDDM) since age 35. I am in muscular, work out daily and I watch my carb intake. My pancreas just stopped producing insulin at 35. Until last week, everyday for the last 40 years I have consumed caffeine. A typical morning in the last 2 decades would see me drinking a 12-cup pot everyday, plus several diet colas. I was swimming in caffeine.

Two weeks ago, I started reading about the effects of coffee (caffeine) and I was startled at what I found. Several articles said that alloxin was a by-product of caffeine as your body breaks it down. Alloxin is a known agent that attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas (Islets of Langerhans). Aldditionally, coffee consumption is directly linked to pancreatic cancer.

So, do yourself a favor before it's too late, quit the caffeine.

I'm damn near 54 years old, I'll tell you straight off the tip of my tongue: coffee is no joke, I drink damn near 5 cups per day! I wake up, and just to get out of bed, I need to drink an entire mugg of coffee, right off the bat. Here's my ideal routine:

10pm: brew a pot of tea with 1/10 of the proper water.

10:10pm: fill a Pyrex mugg with ice cubes.

Pour the potentized coffee over the ice.

Place on bedside table.

1am: fall asleep.

7am: wake and slam the mugg of now perfectly diffused coffee.

This is NOT for the weak of heart!

If you go through withdrawal, in general that means you are addicted to that substance.
