Roman empire crashed because its elite were eating in lead plates & their kids became brain dead (Hard to rule an empire)...

American empire WILL crumble under obese Americans

It's funny that 1/3 Americans are obese when health care is becoming available to all of you! Be ready to pay for CORN subsidies AND for health care needed to "repair" the damages done by high fructose CORN syrup...

I love Americans !

I'm curious as to how this information was obtained. The amount of sugar listed on package labels is confusing as it contains both the amount for added sugar and for naturally occurring sugars. Companies don't like o give out the info on how much sugar is being added to their products.

The only surprise in this study is that the author does not know this has been common knowledge for the last 50 years. I recently contacted General Mills about their health-conscious cereal multi-grain cheerios. I asked why they put 6 grams of sugar in this cereal and only 1 gram in their regular cheerios. They said that consumers wanted it that way. What's wrong with leaving it out and allowing consumers to put their own sugar in if they want it? So the cycle is complete. Now consumers are fully addicted and want sugar even in their health-oriented products.

I understand there is not so much sugar sweetener in many usual grocery items as there is high fructose corn syrup. The body does not know how to digest HFCS and stores it as fat. I would be much more concerned about HFCS than sugar at this point as for example, from what I understand, there is little sugar in today's sweetened soft drinks, unless they are bought from Mexico.

The items listed in the article do contain sugar; however, I believe they are in the great minority. Check out labels in the grocery.
