(HealthDay News) -- You may relish that first cup of coffee in the morning, then a few more cups throughout the day. But if you've had too much caffeine, which is a stimulant, it can lead to significant side effects.
The National Sleep Foundation offers these symptoms of excessive caffeine consumption:
- A decline in fine motor coordination.
- Inability to sleep.
- Anxiety, increased nervousness and feeling dizzy.
- Feeling irritable.
- Increased heart rate.
- Excessive urination.
- Feeling down once the caffeine is out of your system (a caffeine "crash").
