Health Buzz: Too Many CT Scans Pose Cancer Risk, Studies Say

Reader Comments

Back to article

I have had so many scans, I couldn't count. Finally read an article from a Radiologist talking about the danger and I now have refused any scan unless I get a very very good reason.

If I even go to doctor amd say something hurts, a scan is ordered along with a RX. Now I surely realize the damage to me and the outrageous cost to Medicare. I have no doubt I will die from much radiation than anything else.

Medical decisions always involve weighing the risks and benefits of a procedure or medication. CT scans that will potentially provide life saving information should not be avoided for fear of an assumed small increased risk of cancer.

You can visit www.xrayrisk.com to calculate individual risk based on CT scans or x-rays you have had.
