I wish all articles wouldnt assume that it's women who lose interest in sex. My healthy, fit, active partner of 65 has no libido while I am still very interested! We have a great relationship and talk openly but he still thinks penetration is the critical issue and is quite reluctant to look at other options. I am 59 and we have been together seven years. He has viagara but is reluctant to use it.....mmmmmmmmmm!!!!

The remark about nature's way of getting even is being so anthropomorphic about natural selection. Nature is a conservative change engine, and a woman's fertility as well as a man's end game is reproduction and not hot monkey sex, that's just the driver. Older ovaries are just not a bankable commodity as far as natural selection is concerned where as older sperm still has usefulness in reproductive viability. It's not about sexual mating per se

The best part about this article was the hilarious comments posted by readers. Cracked me up. USNEWS.COM has got the wrong set of folks writing. And as for the "lesser half" comment--come on, Deborah Kotz apologized in the comments, give her a break.

Sex can improve as you get older. My wife loosened up quite a bit when I removed all the farm animals, midgets, and chain-saw powered sex toys from our bedroom.

Peace y'all.

George needs to open his eyes up! There are many goal directed women out there. And I don't know of any normal person who doesn't enjoy attention. Making the comments that you did, George, shows only how ignorant you truly are of women! When was the last time you had a date or looked around at the older women of this world? To say such ugly things about women shows how bitter you are for some unknown reason. Some counseling might do you some good!

Women are not goal directed. They enjoy and respond to attention. They come along for the ride. Women have strong social norms and it seems right and proper to them that they fry their face in the sunshine and gobble sweets until they are old, fat, ugly, and utterly without redeeming sexual value. It seldom occurs to women that sex is something you earn by proper nutrition, age defying supplements, precaution, hard work in the gym, running, education, and achievement. After the hair, the nails, the tits are gone they don't expect sex.

Libido or its absence is not a matter of medicine. All Viagra and other brands can help only if sentiments are there first. Sharing true feelings with partner or spouse is the only answer. All the rest is pure SEX, our built-in drive that is meant to perpetuate humanity, may be the reason why we exist on earth. Relationship based on love and respect is the major ingredient for a <no problem> love life, thats my recipe, still ok at 72 and no potential problems is sight.
