You definitely need to cut back on the coffee - but as far as what are you doing wrong. I would look at the foods that you eat. I say you are not giving the whole picture. If you are overweight, then you are not talking about the things that you snack on. Everyone snacks, be honest with yourself and you will be able to start to lose the weight or at least get your medical numbers into proper alignment. By the way when you go to the gym do you break a sweat and do you lift weights. I am 54 yrs old and I am told that I will have diabetes by the time I am 55. I defy my family history - I am no where near ever having diabetes. I exercise at least 1 hour daily (step up your exercise program and do at least 30 minutes daily). As for eating make sure the chicken does not have fat and is about 3-4 oz. You might want to start drinking milk or eating yogurt. Always eat breakfast - I would recommend a full cup of oatmeal or eggs and cheese.

Debe, 1) You need to eat more for breakfast and incorporate a protein and you always need to eat lunch, 2) You need to do the right kinds of exercise, some cardio at least a half hour a day, an hour would be better, cut back on strength training, 3) You need to snack a couple times a day between meals, 4) You need more calcium, consumed with vitamins A and D please 5) You need to drink coffee earlier in the day, not at night so that you sleep properly (don't give me that "but it doesn't affect me" story, yes it does, even if you don't know it), 6) You need more variety in your diet, including some fruit and whole grains, 7) You need small doses of fat in your diet, 8) You need to drink water, caffeinated beverages do not count. Thirst is a good indicator. 9) Overall, you need more calories. Your metabolism will slow down if you deprive it too much. 10) You need to talk to your doctor about how to adjust the insulin to the advice above. Good luck!

www.my-calorie-counter.com Its free and easy to use. I tried it for about a year and if you truly stick to it, you will lose weight. Dont cheat, but be honest with yourself and you will lose weight. I lost 15lbs in a course of 6 months with exercising minimally and periodically throughout the week due to my work schedule. Its not easy, but you will be surprised at how much calories we do eat and dont realize it. Good luck

Don't give up! If you're able, have a doctor check your blood sugar. You may

be sensitive to carbohydrates. Talk to a registered dietician and get a recommended

diet.

Do you sleep through the night? Not sleeping is a problem for anyone

trying to lose weight. http://thyroid.about.com/od/loseweightsuccessfully/a/sleepdiet.htm

Also, stress can elevate cortisol, and this will make weight loss difficult. I do believe

it's possible for you to figure out your issues and permanently lose weight - I

have done it.

I am 57, 5 ft 1 inch and I weigh 179 pounds and I cannot make the scale move I have started a walk/run program and watch what i eat. I have been doing this off an on for months if not years. I don't lose a pound and then give up. I have started again to stick to it this time. I hate to hear that muscel weighs more than fat i must be very muscular. I am really so Sad about my weight gain.

For the first 40 years of my life I couldn't gain weight to save my life. No weight gain for me even after drinking the 1960 elixir 'Weight on'. That's how small i was. then I was trying to gain weight. Well if I'd known then what I'd look like now I would have stayed with apples, carrots and celery stalks [my favorites then]. So I will try your recommendation and see what results I get. I'd give anything to be small again!

Signed,

Over the hill and over weight.

Can you jot down exactly what you ate for breakdfast, lunch, dinner. I'm confused on the caloric intake and would love to try your diet idea. Thanks so much.

I'm with CB of LA. I did the same thing. My youngest is 4-1/2 and I have been eating right and exercising for the past 2 years. However, the scale never changes for me in the downward direction. It does change 2-3 lbs in the upward direction and it takes me extra exercise to lose those 2-3 lbs. Over the holidays, I dabbled a little too much and stopped exercising because my basement was being refinished. I have been unable to get to my treadmill and exercise equipment and noticed that I've gained 5 lbs. I need something to lose those 5 lbs quick so I can back into my clothes comfortably. I eat every two hours as well and prepare all my meals myself (and work full-time). I've researched every diet plan, healthy recipes, but never tried a diet supplement; and never will. Eating right and exercising. You can splurge once a week with an unhealthy snack, as long as you return to your exercise regimen.

A pound weighs a pound. A pound of muscle and a pound of fat are the same. Kudos for all that you have accomplished. Women tend to take care of everyone else and put themselves on the back burner, thats what happened to me. AH HA moment-Empty nest and then I had to look at myself, Real hard. Dont lose sight of who you are, a healthly happy person.
