Senate Bill Could Increase Abortion Coverage

Abortion is the destruction of a living human being. This isn't opinion or religious faith. It's scientific fact. When Roe v Wade was issued, much less was known about the developing baby. Now we can see into the womb with sonograms and even repair babies in the womb with neo-natal surgery.

Women deserve better than abortion. Let's stop killing babies and wounding their mothers emotionally, physically, mentally, etc.

No federal funds should go to this evil, especially since a majority of Americans are prolife.

Why not birth control?

I'm old eought to remember when birth control was limited to a diaphragm or condoms. Girls got pregnant, had babies and gave them up for adoption. Abortions were performed in back alleys if you could find someone and had the money.

When birth control pills arrived it was assumed that unwanted pregnancies would miraculously disappear. Well, of course, that didn't happen so we passed Roe v Wade and now we could abort during the first trimester only. Again, it was assumed that this would take care of having unwanted babies. Well, that didn't happen either!

But wait! There was a solution. You could now have an abortion during your second trimester. How lucky for the babies.

Apparently that isn't enough either! Now we abort babies in the third trimester.

I'm quite sure that the next step will be to make it legal to kill newborns during their first three months. Then of course, we will want to extend that to six months! And on, and on.

Do you see what I'm saying? When will we learn to prevent a pregnancy by being responsible. That would solve all of the problems relating to abortion and it save money for more needed medical care, relieve women of guilt, save them from having to make this kind of decision and prevent complications from either pregnancy or abortion.

Let's get real. Women, young and older, are too damned lazy to take a pill and too ignorant to take responsibility to prevent pregnancy.

If birth control were available to every woman over the age of 15 and it was free, we would still be talking abortion.

All of the problems we are experiencing today are related to the constant push for more liberties. But instead of freeing up society it has imprisoned us.

Christians respect life period. That means respect for the elderly, middle age, children and unborn children. That includes all human beings. That includes human beings that are in jail, poor, weak, rich, strong, all cultures, all religions, those that tell the Truth, and even those that stretch the truth to the very far extremes and show total hatred toward Christians.

We love and respect life and understand that Life is important. Every Life is equally important.

Abortion slaughters 3200 babies a days and 1.2 Million a year in America. It is simply wrong.

We don't want the strong slaughtering the weak period. The slaughter of abortion is wrong. The slaughter of abortion is not a solution. The slaughter of abortion is not Love. Love does not destroy.

Education on Love is a solution. Education on making commitments and standing behind what you say and do is a solution. Education on making responsible decisions is a solution. Adoption is a solution.

We should not kill

As a Christian,

Do you believe that Jesus (God) was conceived by the Holy Spirit?

Do you believe that God chose to start Jesus at conception?

If so then do you recognize that abortion is wrong?

Jesus came to testify to the Truth.

The Truth will set us Free.

Love God and your neighbor.

Professor,

HA! I love you guys who desparately try to find a hole. The Catholic Church has condemned abortion since the 1st Centry as a grave evil (see the Didache).

Yes, some like Aquinas did hold a theory of delayed animation. But the same saint held that no direct abortion was morally licit, that all abortions were a grave sin (peccatum grave); among evil deeds (inter maleficia), and against nature (contra naturam); see his ''Commentary on Sentences,'' Bk. 4, dist. 1, art. 3, exposition of text.

There are no theological problems when a fertilized egg doesn't implant. Many don't make it through pregnancy and we all die at some time. All have souls, no matter what stage of life.

I love when you guys try to poke little holes. If you don't agree with the Catholic view on when human life begins, just pick up a biology book - they match!

The debate on abortion is merely opinion. Moral values are based on either self-centered, God-based or society-based non-provable basic assumptions. For the Catholic viewpoint let me excerpt from the free ebook series “And Gulliver Returns” (httå://andgulliverreturns.info) The Abortion chapter in Book 4 elaborates the pros and cons of the 3 ethical assumptions. Let me attempt to summarize the changing Catholic position. From the 13th Century the views of St. Thomas Aquinas, that male embryos got their souls about 4 weeks after conception, females somewhat later, were the standard. His was a Christionized view of Aristotle’s ideas.

The crux of the modern idea, that the soul is infused at conception, might be traced to St. Paul (Romans 5:12) who started the ball rolling on ‘original sin.’ 500 years later St. Augustine popularized the idea. But the Blessed Virgin was born without original sin, her Immaculate Conception. Pope Pius IX declared this in 1854. Then in 1870 he decided that popes were infallible in church doctrine. So was his pronouncement retroactive?

Recent popes have generally followed Pius’s idea that the soul enters the zygote at the moment of conception. This brings with it some theological problems. Since many fertilized ova never implant in the uterus what happens to these little souls?

If you are really interested in the question, see the aforementioned chapter. It is done in detail.
