Is it really nessasary to give my children ages 13 to 3 yrs old the flu or the swine flu shot? My husband before he started the police academy in 1999 got the flu shot and he had an allergic reaction to the flu shot. So of coarse I have been hesitant to give my children the flu shot or the swine flu shot. What should I do?

My OB/GYN recommends not getting the vaccination for the first 8 weeks of pregnancy however this concerns me. Can you clarify if there is any rist to a fetus during the first trimester if I receive the vaccination?

One of my patient brought this column to my attention. Readers should be aware that Vitamin D is toxic in large doses. It is a fat soluble vitamin and it can accumulate in your body. Please beware of internet medical advice. As an MD, I know that flu vaccine is an effective way to prevent this disease and flu vaccination has been endorsed by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists for several years. And vitamin D is not a cure all.

This NEW virus scare campaign has so many dear people in derision. We need to get back to understanding the basics for maintaining good health. Good filtered water to drink. regular sleep, hours before midnight is best. Exercise each day , at least 30 mins walk . Eating foods in their raw state is best. Veges in abundance & Fruit. Orgainc Metas , Chicken & Turkey. Fish not loaded with mercury. Supplementation with Glyconutrients is a good choice. Spiritual food is best when taken daily from the Word of God, the Bible. In here we will find much wisdom & how to find faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.By daily walking with Jesus , Stress will be handled in a better way for your health.

The promoters of the Swine flu may not have sound understanding of all the adverse complications that many will be subjected to. NOTHING is worth the misery of a child left to spend a lifetime with debilitated health. this vaccine has not been subjected to the gold standard ... Double blind pleacebo trials so why the great haste. The history of some of the vaccine makers previous ones leaves me rather questioning.

It is a good idea to do some personal research first before you take a risk with your health. The immune system has been our god given means to fight off offendind viruses, bacterium, pathogens etc so let's work with it & not against it . We are not born with a drug deficiency but rather we become Nutrient deficient over time as we consume "foods" that have very little nutrients in them. So take the advice of the Father of Medicine some 2,000 yrs ago ;"Let FOOD be your MEDICINE & your MEDICINE be your FOOD; you are what you eat".

Trust you will start to think a little deeper.

I personally would go to be with my child, wash my hands frequently, up my intake of Vitamin D and be the mother you want to be. You have already been exposed to him. I also would caution you on the tamiflu because the studies show it doesn't work for the swine flu and you are giving your child an antiviral. Educate yourself on this.

Read the above link. It doesn't add up. And they haven't tested the safety of the adjuvant in pregant women. I would think twice.

On August 5, 2009, the US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) released the seasonal influenza virus vaccine lots for the 2009/2010 season, much earlier this year than last year. The manufacturers’ insert does not state the safety and effectiveness for the flu vaccines for pregnant women, nursing mothers, or in the pediatric population. The “safety and effectiveness of Fluzone have not been established in pregnant women and nursing mothers or children <6 months of age.” All five of the flu vaccine manufacturers make similar statements about how the safety and effectiveness have not been established for these specific populations.

Manufacturers of Seasonal Flu Vaccine Still Not Stating It is Safe for Pregnant and Nursing Women

The facts are not adding up. Not one of this year’s seasonal flu vaccines state on the manufactures’ insert that it is safe for pregnant or nursing mothers. Furthermore, it states that the safety and effectiveness in the pediatric population hasn’t been established. Yet, the Center for Disease Control (“CDC”) is nearly pushing pregnant women to the front of the line to receive the seasonal flu vaccine and considering having schools as the main hub to inoculate children with the seasonal and swine flu vaccine. I am concerned. Very concerned.

Each seasonal flu vaccine manufactures’ insert also state specifically that the safety of the flu vaccine hasn’t been established in the pediatric populations and many state specific age groups. “The safety and effectiveness in the pediatric population have not been established,” states the Afluria manufacturer’s insert. “Flurvirin is not indicated for children less than 4 years of age because there is evidence of diminished immune response in this age group,” states the Fluvirin manufacture’s insert. FluMist doesn’t recommend children less than 24 months of age to receive their vaccine. Fluzone also doesn’t recommend children less than 6 months of age to receive their vaccine. FLULAVAL states that the safety and effectiveness of FLULAVAL in pediatric patients have not been established. Finally, AFLURIA states that their vaccine is indicated for active immunization of persons 18 and older. The CDC recommends annual immunization against the seasonal flu virus for children six months to eighteen years old. Which vaccine is proven safe for children six months to eighteen years old? Where are the statements and studies to say receiving this vaccine when pregnant is safe to an unborn child? I haven’t found studies proving the safety, and I would tend to guess, if they had been preformed, the manufactures’ insert wouldn’t make the statements about safety not being proven yet. I welcome the CDC and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (“ACOG”) to prove to me and the hundreds of thousands of pregnant women who may be considering this vaccine.

The ACOG website, backing up the CDC’s statement, states, “CDC advisors issued recommendat
