Im on my second shot of Depo, :( i am starting to experience weight gain. I have been working out like crazy, dieting and eatting 5-7 small meal to increase my metabolism. Depo obvious works against that. All the hard work i've done in the gym should have resulted in at least 5-7 pounds of weight loss by now. Yet everytime i get on the scale I weigh the same or weigh 2-3 pounds more. Very frustrating. I am taking diurex now to get rid of the water weigh. if i can get rid of wieight while on Depo of course i will continue to get the shot. i have 3 more weeks until the medication leaves my body. if this doesnt work i plan to get off depo so i can lose the weight i am working my butt of for. No birth control is worth bad side effects ladies.

I was told by the nurse I would put on a maximum of 3kgs I have gained over 10 that's nearly 2 stone. The only good thing that the depo did for me is improve my mood swings and mainly Not get pregnant. Every drug comes with pro's and cons but I agree weight side of it should be stressed as no one wants to be big! Also it throws the saying out u are what you eat as I have not changed my eating habits!

This is a good article, however the title is misleading. It says "how to minimize weight loss" which implies it will give tips on keeping the weight off for people who are known to gain weight on the shot.

Weight gain has also been problematic as well..so, I'm excersing twice as hard. Limiting Carb intake. More fruits and vegetables. Etc. Common since basically for controlling weight gain. If u have a sedentary lifestyle odds are u will gain weight. Whether ur on the shot or not ...but, that's my two cents. And I will never ever get the "Depo shot" ever again.

I recently got a depo shot to control cyst from growing large than rupturing ...obviously my doctor suggested the Depo Shot and how it would stop my cycles I was like YES! Anything to stop my pain. Not thinking clearly cause I was in so much pain from a ovarian cyst, I neglected to ask about side effects....and the gyn I saw was a female. Well now I'm Moody, forgetful, can't stand my spouse. The very thought of being intimate makes me nauseous. I'm losing hair. I feel like I'm losing my freaking mind. Seems to me bloodwork would have been ordered to check for hormonal imbalances prior to getting the depo shot. Since, I was told several years ago my hormones were a little "off ". And yes I told the doctor that. Anyway when I'm in severe pain I'm like a howdy doody wind up toy and agree to anything that involved "stopping the formation of cyst"" But, in all reality me agreeing to the shot was more like DURRRRRRR. Knowle

...That didn't tell me how to minimize weight gain on depo-provera, that just told me to switch contraceptives, thanks for the misleading title, I'm going to go get liposuction now.
