Painful Sex: 6 Ways to Relieve Vaginal Dryness

Just to add on to something someone else touched on. Many times women are dry because they are not turned on enough. Foreplay exists for a reason. A man that turns to grab store bought lube instead of getting his woman excited enough for sex has issues. In some cases women DO need lube because its a legitimate dryness issue. However, for the average younger women it's just lack of foreplay. Which is insensitivity by someone who is too quick to jump into sex. For women without dryness issues that are often dry during intercourse, I believe foreplay first and lube as a last resort. As woman we shouldn't have to ask for it, if we are dry it should be a red flag to the man that we are not ready but unfortunately more often than not we do.

I think this advice is excellent - I was worried that my problems with dryness were just a result of my age and something I couldn't do anything about. It does definately make you feel less womanly if you don't "react" as quickly as you did. You can buy flax seed oil tablets from health food shops which are also a good alternative to cod liver oil (cod is becoming scarce!)and an excellent source of omega 3 - so is anti-aging in a number of ways. I would also say that it's good to talk to your partner if dryness is making sex difficult and reasure him that "the mind is willing"and you just need a little extra time and help!

Deborah thank you for this informative article. The Women’s Sexual Health Foundation ‘s (TWSHF) survey concerning discussing sexual health with your doctor had very similar results to the Novo Nordisk survey. We found that less than 9% of doctors are asking women if they are having any sexual health concerns.

TWSHF advises women to bring this topic up with their healthcare provider and to be their own best advocate. Otherwise the topic may not be addressed.

There are great products available to women for vaginal dryness. We have found if the first one does not work, do not give up, but continue to try others. For some women it may take trying several products until they find the right one.

that the MEN in these relationships would want to take the initiative to add lots and lots of lube---out of sensitivity to their wives' predicament in this situation.

I am just thrilled to see this topic being discussed in national business magazines and thank you from the bottom of my heart. After a round of breast cancer, I tried to find a natural lubricant (no estrogen and no chemicals) and finally found one which I am now selling along with vaginal dryness moisturizing oil. The oil, used as often as wanted keeps vaginal tissues supple and the lubricant makes us slippery. No pain, no chemicals. I have a couple of "kits" - one called Breast Cancer Buddy and the others are for menopausal women and their husbands/lovers. If I may be so bold - the company is www.womensintimatesolutions.com. The herbals are all either organic certified or wildcrafted; the non-latex massagers are the best I can find at a good price and the pouches are custom made in Maine, all cotton and washable extra thick terry or prints. My single goal, other than to make a living, is to help women with this rotten problem. No chemicals, no estrogen and no pain! Whoopee!
