Delaying menopause does not just mean that women past the age of 50 (average age of menopause in the U.S.) want to have more children. Maintaining ovarian function, such as the production of estradiol and progesterone during normal menstrual cycles, will preclude menopausal women from having to take hormone replacement therapy (HRT). The ability of ovaries to synthesize natural steroid hormones past the age of menopause would help delay the osnet of osteoporosis, memory loss and improve caridac function. This is something the pharmaceutical companies who sell HRT and manufacturers of unregulated bioidentical hormones will not like to hear. A second question arises as to what would the risk of breast/ovarian/endometrial cancer be in women 50 years or older who are still having normal menstrual cycles?

Hope that the technique will be mature in a year or two!!! This will benefit lots of couples in the world who are longing for babies but could not succeed due to their egg quality or lack of any egg.

You are an irresponsible moron. Who are you to determine at what age a woman should not give birth? Do you "cringe" at the "abuse" at all the elder men producing offspring? It's a personal and individual medical decision, not to be arbitrarily and emotionally determined by ignorant journalists with agendas, or the need to "flame" a column with deliberate controversy to increase traffic.
