I am finally taking the bioidenticals.........not sure if they're the answer yet though. i'm wondering how i will feel on my 4th day.......have taken the creams and prog. pill at night plus testosterone, feel alittle head heaviness, wonder if i should continue; or just stop the pill or the creams or keep doing it.

THen some folks have had cancer recurrences in ovary or breast.

This is my main concern.

Oh my gosh, where to begin. I read the preceding article and I'm sorry, but until the "traditional" medical community can come up with something better than "we don't know exactly why this or that happens" I'm opting to treat myself. I'm soon to be 36, been sick for 6 years. My memory of my children's youngest years are lost forever. My sex life is a "have to". I was hospitalized twice for something that the doctors could not find. After full body scans and blood work all they found was a small uterine fibroid (they said it was very common, at least 30% of the female population has them.) Oh thanks, I feel so much better now.

Seriously, doctors do not know what the hell they are talking about. They gave me a CT scan with iodine contrast dye. I had a delayed reaction to the dye the day after. I was in full shock and close to death. They let me lay there in shock for over four hours and said it was just anxiety and I needed to see a shrink. A year later, my sister, who is studying to be a radiologist told me that her text book says they should ask if you have thyroid disease, asthma, food allergies or any other allergies. I have everything but the thyroid.

Read and research so that you can diagnose and treat yourself. I'm sorry but no one will ever know your body better than you do. Do bioidenticals cause the cancer or is it just that women who are more prone to cancer need BHRT?

If I'm going to get cancer then I'm going to get it. But feeling like I'm going to die two to three weeks out of each month (week before, week of and sometimes week after cycle) is no way to live.

If doctors want to dismiss hormone therapy fine, then do something about it or give up your damn doctorate because if you aren't smart enough to figure out the cause of one's suffering then you don't deserve the title. Anyone can be a doctor. Pay the tuition, read the books and take the tests. Its not that hard. They are not gods, they just passed the tests, some of them barely.

Don't give me downer excuses why Suzanne Sommers is wrong, don't dismiss her theories because your American Medical Journal says so. Do something to help people damn it.

I started bio-identicals on January 21 and started my period on January 26! I finished my last period on January 12. Called naturopath and was told to cut back on Progon and if still having period on Monday to call back. I realized there is adjustment to this but is this normal?

Thanks,Lisa

I knew about Bioidentical Hormones thanks to Dr Helen Pansanti over 25 years ago. She and Dr Ritter were the great Pioneers who first came out with Bioidentical Hormones. I give credit where it is due.

I read one of Suzanne Somers books (I think- the sexy years) she talked about continuing her hormone therapy while using tamoxifen. You might want to check it out.
