Hello: I have an appointment today with my OB/GYN for a yearly check-up, and I will be talking to him regarding these replacement therapies. I was operated on in 1993 for ovarian cancer, stage I, therefore had all of my female organs removed. No chemo, no radiation. While realizing that I am so blessed to have had a clean bill of health since, I have suffered GREATLY because of no hormones. I am now 60 YOA and feel terrible. I cannot sleep, I have gained 70 pounds, have no energy, my skin and scalp are so itchy, just a mirad of things that I'm sure are hormone related. I'm so looking forward to reading these books, and to hopefully begin my road to feeling better.

Dangerous woman should be jailed.

If this woman could put 2 and 2 together she would realize why she just had a hysterectomy for severe endometrial hyperplasia, a stage just before endometrial cancer and a condition highly associated with hormone use. This is exactly what a medically educated person would expect to happen whether on so called natural or synthetic estrogens. In cytology if a women has a NATURALLY high estrogen effect in her vaginal or cervical cells we red flag it and start searching for endometrial cancer or hyperplasia.

This is one of the reasons why medical doctors advise against estrogen (natural or not) use in women who have had breast cancer. The risk of endometrial pathology and/or recurrent breast cancer is high.

This anti Suzanne article is typical of US News and World report. Sorry I was dumb enough to give it a chance.

I just started my quest for healthy hormone levels. You gave me the courage and inspired me to be my own advocate! I thank you so very much!

Suzanne Somers is endangering the lives of both herself and the women who read her books. She is playing with fire. Despite what she proclaims, nobody knows whether these products are safer than Wyeth's Premarin family of products. No clinical trials have been done to assess the longterm outcomes of these hormones. Right now it is just a theory; there is no proof that bioidentical estrogen and progesterone will prevent heart disease or dementia, or keep cancer at bay, or make you look and feel younger.

Suzanne herself proved how much she DIDN'T KNOW about her individualized concoctions because, fairly recently, she had to undergo a hysterectomy due to overgrowth of the uterine lining and the presence of abnormal cells, which are consequences of excess estrogen.

She thinks of herself as a pioneer; I think she's off her rocker!

What do you call pharmaceutical companies' disease management vs. health management; Our society having doctors go through school of medicine vs. school of health. MDs are programmed to use medicine, something pharmaceutical companies pour tons to research, tons to hide side effects, tons to fight litigations when selling you an FDA approved drug at 95% gross margin.

That is entreprenurship at is ultimate! EXCEPT that is OK?!

There has been so much hype about bioidentical hormones recently. Thank you for presenting the other side. Very well written.

Hillbilly..what a stupid thing to say. Suzzanne has been involved in bio identicals for over 15 years. She used them on herself and saved her life and has written several books on them and is trying to help people. Because of her 5 years ago I started on bio's and have been extremely healthy and happy ever since. My mother got breast cancer from using Wyeth's FAKE hormones and it almost killed her. Now that's spmething u should investigate and their involvement with the scuzzy FDA and comment about. Some people should just keep their thoughts to themselves expecially when they have no idea what they are talking about.
