Chill Out! " It shocks me everyday how ignorant and self-absorbed this world is,"

Sorry about your being shocked. If you ARE part of the younger generation, you should go back to English 101 and learn to spell and write coherent sentences. Nobody is ever going to believe your stance, unless you know how to speak (a least speak a little better English than "aw shucks" Palin, if you want the world to believe your angry position). Idiot!

Truly, how can any of you first say that abortion is wrong when someone is raped? Many people I know, including myself have been victim of rape, so what gives you the right to decide my life and what should be done with it? How can you say life begins at conception when there isn't even a heart beat? If you are considered dead when your heart stops beating then you are considered alive when it starts beating. (For those of you saying that people's hearts stop for minutes, such as, 6 minutes their hearts stop and then they start again, fine, let's just say 6 minutes before the hearts start beating in the womb is it actually considered a life.)

Next, the comment about the birth certificate, really where the hell are you from? People have babies all the time in thir houses, in other parts of the country, or world, without others knowing, so what you can't be considered an "American Baby" without a birth certificate. Really? Wake up, don't be so ignorant in the comments you make.

And lastly, on the comment about the "retard", go to hell. You've probably never even worked with, or been around anyone who has a child with downsyndrome. Once again, open your eyes and see that this world doesn't revolve around you. Any child that has downsyndrome is no different than anyone, and quite frankly they are probably a better person, than you will ever be. It shocks me everyday how ignorant and self-absorbed this world is, and yet it's blamed on the "younger" generation. Maybe instead of telling you to grow up, we, the "younger" generation should open your eyes to see that things are changing and society is finally becoming just, especially with tolerance and if people like you weren't in the world, it'd be a much better place, because all you bring to it is hatred and judgment.

Palin does not have a clue, a thought or a plan. Palin is a neophyte who has no interest in policy or government. Her sole objective is to be VP. She has not made one intelligent statement in the five-six weeks since she was selected. By now you would have thought she would read a newspaper, magazine, watch cable or access any website to bring herself current on important issues. She hasn't. She sat through three different interviews and embarrassed women by her incoherent answers. I may sound angry, if I do, it is because I was excited about Palin's selection and quickly discovered she was a phoney and a lier. From the day she was introduced she read her scripted speech and so easily lied, mocked and denigrated a man she did not know nor never met. What surprised me most was how easily she did it. No, she has no plan for women her steely ambition is to be VP. My hope is--she never makes it.

Palin should follow her faith to its logical insanity. Life begins with an egg and a sperm. It must be that God selects which sperm out of thousands will live while the others will die. That's spermatocide.

The hubris of any belief that it adheres to the instructions of a divine authority is all that sustains one belief against another.

It takes balls to be a believer, and Palin has them.

"I cannot fathom how a 44 year old pregnant (presumably intelligent) woman can KNOW beforehand that she is bringing a retarded being into the world and make the conscious decision to do that to prove her ridiculous points. The down syndrome child will be the one to suffer greatly in this cold world before it dies at a premature age while Governor Palin will go about pursuing her anti-abortion stance"

Your statements show a fundamental misunderstanding of Down Syndrome. People with trisomy of the 21st chromosome do not face drastically short life spans (avg. of 49 years globally). Aside from the slower mental and physical development caused by Down Syndrome, there are no major health issues. A person with Down Syndrome may face a slightly higher risk of some diseases, but it is by no means certain. People afflicted with trisomy 21 live normal, productive lives.

Also, your assertions that the child will suffer as a result of being born makes no sense. If a person can suffer, then a person can enjoy. If the child was never born, then he could experience neither pain nor joy nor love. Clearly, Gov. Palin's child is well cared for, will attend schools and have any necessary medical procedures fully covered.

So if you want to argue that Trig should have been aborted because of his Down Syndrome, don't you dare claim it would have been for his own good. That is less than disgusting, to imply that someone would be better off dead before he's even had a chance to live.

"The life is not...I REPEAT IT IS NOT recognized as a human being until a birth certificate goes along with passing through the birth canal."

Just because you don't recognize a life until the baby is born, doesn't make that the truth. I won't begin to assume at what point a fetus becomes a human that should have inherent rights, but I do find it odd that people who murder a pregnant woman face two counts of homicide. Clearly, other people have different recognitions on when a fetus is a human. Your's is wrong, and people who say it happens at conception are wrong. It must be somewhere in the middle. I just wish that science could provide a more definite answer and our government would take a firmer stance.

"I wish for once these idiots who claim to be 'pro-life' would explain to me how supporting an illegal and unjust war in Iraq that saw the deaths of over 4,000 of our men and women can consider themselves 'pro-life'. Sounds like pro-death to me. I know more so called pro-lifers who supported the war than not, and it's just plain hypocritcal. Pro-lifers only believe in the sanctity of the unborn life and not those of us who have already been born."

I wish you would include the numbers of civilians killed under the Taliban and Hussein's regime and compare that to the dramatically lower number (though still far, far too high) of civilians killed today. I will concede that there are many "pro-lifers" who are hypocritical, in that aspect. But I cannot fathom how attempting to halt ethnic genocide can be labeled as "pro-death".

For your consideration,

-Thomas

Pro-lifers only believe in the sanctity of the unborn life and not those of us who have already been born, Palin is just another hypocrite like the rest of her party. These people won't vote for a man who might think abortion should be legalized but they'll vote for a person who starts a war like Iraq and stands back while the planet dies from our mistreatment which is killing millions. Pro-life is pro-spin.

The life is not...I REPEAT IT IS NOT recognized as a human being until a birth certificate goes along with passing through the birth canal. Termination of the results of an ill-advised pregnancy in it's earliest stages is a far cry from terminating the life of a born human being at later stages. Your logic is about as sound as your choice for political parties. I take human life very serious...and a lot more serious than I do people having sex without considering consequences. Do You think Palin doesn't understand the importance of condoms. If not, she may be pregnant fairly often while she is in the White House as her fertility is no doubt still with her.

Based on that logic, where is the cut for a life and child that is valuable? If your eyes aren't blue and hair not blonde? Familiar with history?

We don't all come into this world "perfect". Would you advocate that the same "retarded" child be killed after birth as well?

I cannot fathom how you take a human life so lightly.

I am not too sure Palin answered any questions on the womens health issues regarding abortion and Roe v. Wade implications. The kind moderator did not even pose the issues we were all waiting to hear about. If someone is presenting themselves as suitable for potentially becoming President of the United States, then I firmly believe the "elite media" should take off the gloves and punch into that person's character and beliefs as agressively as needed so the voting public can see what that person is like on all vital issues. I cannot fathom how a 44 year old pregnant (presumably intelligent) woman can KNOW beforehand that she is bringing a retarded being into the world and make the conscious decision to do that to prove her ridiculous points. The down syndrome child will be the one to suffer greatly in this cold world before it dies at a premature age while Governor Palin will go about pursuing her anti-abortion stance and pretend to govern peoples who's thoughts are diametrically opposed to her actions. The reason she and the "First Dude" had a medical test called a amnio syntesis was to see if they had potentially created a Down syndrome fetus. When the report showed positive, they still opted to bring the sick child into the world. Why did they even bother to test?

First, there was no "law." There was a budget submitted by the police chief.

Who pays when some one is beat up, a victim of a hit and run driver, or shot? There has been an increase over the last 10 years for victim assistance from the Federal government.

Many towns and States have struggled with this funding, as late as 2004/2005. Until 2005 there was no federal funding for law enforcement for forensic exam kits unless a woman prosecuted.

Here's information on the Violence Against Women Act and payment for the forensic examination kits:
