Sorry, but pink is NOT, "the signature color of breast cancer activists." It is a color hijacked by Komen and other organizations to provide marketing opportunities to companies that want to sell you stuff. It is well documented that only a tiny share of the proceeds goes to breast cancer organizations. And the companies are not giving their own money--only a portion of their products.

Most breast cancer survivors HATE pink and feel overwhelmed and depressed by the pinking of October and having to run a gauntlet of pink products every time we enter a retail establishment during October.

Some of us are fighting back with Boycott October and the Battle for October.

Firstly-

Your tone is way out of line. You can attack or disagree w/me in a more constructive manner. Apparently your were very emotion. I'm a class act, and don't live at that level.

You can take step to lower your risks, according to John Hopkins, Cornell, and a class I was advised to take for my risk factor (family history). My doctor has been a wealth of info.

I never said anything about absolutes, but research is indicating enviormental factors in the BC epidemic.

Of course you can do all the right things (definition varies), and still get BC. Where did I state otherwisw?

Oy Vey, give me a prozac.

"Think Before You Pink" is a really great campaign. Breast Cancer.org is one of the few 501 (c)'s not just hiding profits under the non-profit umbrella.

Breasts are one of the most important and sensitive parts of a woman. It sometimes irks me how most of these "Breast Cancer Awareness" programs are supporting the AMA approved MD's approach, that is almost always one-sided: Mammograms. if anything looks out of the normal - surgery, chemo, and the accompanying pharmaceuticals. The net result - masectomy, reconstructive surgery, and a woman losing a vital part of her body.

Why isn't there fairness, that supports the numerous holistic alternatives that obviously work using natural remedies? In most cases insurance won't fund this unless an MD pre-approves this, yet in most cases they do not support natural healing. Another why? Because it costs less and that means less profit for hospitals and MD's.

Prevention is the best medicine. That means proper diet, thoughts, and generally avoiding situations that might impact the problem. There is lots of information up at my website on this issue, and am presently consulting with numerous women to put up a new site specifically for Breast Healing.

I agree with Susan. You are what you eat, wear, breathe, and touch - you live by it and die by it. However, something many people are unaware of is that wearing a bra may make your chances of getting breast cancer a lot worse. Bollocks to those who thing there is nothing you can do. Check out:

Why do we dedicate a month to a disease? Why not dedicate the entire year to all diseases? Why this gender bias?

There are not enough months of the year to dedicate towards to all other forms of cancers

Why is more money spent on breast cancer than all cancers combined?

Why is it that more men die of prostate cancer than women die of breast cancer but we don't see the commercialization of combating this form of cancer.

Does the commercialization of a disease such as having my milk carton painted pink by help combat cancer?

This breast cancer ceremonial awareness reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer refuses to wear a ribbon at a charity march.

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid human beings are with all their meaningless trivial ceremonies that does absolutely nothing to find a cure to this and many other terrible cancers

Excerpts on cancer from the book Surviving The Matrix Planet:

How The Medical-Psychiatric-Pharmaceutical Corporate Complex Is Destroying Your Health & Sanity And What You Can Do To Reclaim It by G.B. Randolph

“Note 3: Billions of dollars are spent annually trying to find a cure for cancer. The various research institutes plead for your support and donations to help them one day find a cure. Doesn’t it strike you as unusual that in spite of all the effort made since these drives began back in the 1950’s they STILL haven’t found a cure? A moon landing was achieved in less than a decade but the cancer foundations have yet to achieve their stated goals. Maybe their advanced and highly technical laboratory methodologies have made them overlook the all-too-obvious.”

“Cancer is the body’s inability to discard dead tissue. When the body is poisoned with toxins cells (and tissue) sometimes mutate. They mutate as a way of getting rid of the toxins. The body tries to collect and isolate them into tumors which it then tries to remove. When it has difficulty removing them, that is cancer.”

“It isn't the tumor that spreads and becomes “malignant”. It is the process of cells, tissues, and organs mutating throughout an area of the body. They are mutating because they have been poisoned by ingested toxins. It is the ingested toxins that are causing the cancer. Cancer, thus, is another form of intense detoxification. Sometimes this happens so fast and with such fury it may be too late. A body weakened by a lifetime of accumulated toxins will find it difficult if not impossible to drain the tumor(s)”.

“Contemporary “cures” for cancer, especially modern medical practices like radiation, chemotherapy, and drugs are hit or miss because they don’t address the cause of the cancer. Actually radiation, chemotherapy and drugs are ineffective because they introduce more toxicity into the body, which the body must get rid of. So some time or another even if the cancer subsides the patient will get sick again. Doctors and their patients consider it lucky when the cancer goes into full remission. But there is always a cause and effect relationship. Usually unknown to the physician and patient they somehow changed their lives to 1) stop poisoning their body, and 2) build up the body nutritionally. Tumors, of course, can be surgically removed but if the patient continues to poison their body with toxins and does not fortify it with raw food they may come right back.”

“Since cancer is a form of intense detoxification, with the cause being ingested toxins, it is thus preventable by keeping toxins out of the body and reinforcing the body’s ability to detoxify. The prevention is also the cure should cancer develop. Helping the body remove the tumors will be greatly aided by specific raw food that addresses the type of cancer. Other raw food researches can provide you with the details --- see suggested reading below. Just switching to a balanced raw food diet in general will provide an undernourished body with real nutrition to help detoxify the tumors.”

“Several months after we got on the balanced raw food diet Kim got these nasty looking lumps on her breasts, and it was starting to look pretty scary. We realized, however, that her body was running out years of toxins and that we were doing the right action. Eventually the tumors went away. If we had stopped the procedure they may not have drained. We knew if we had gone to a clinic they would have applied their primitive brand of medicine, which we didn’t want. I recalled that scene in the move Star Trek 4 when the crew goes back in time to save the whales. Kirk and Bones are in a hospital elevator with 2 other physicians who are discussing a medical procedure. Bones starts arguing with the doctors. When the elevator doors open they leave and Bones, remarking on 20th Century medicine, growls: “Barbaric! Just barbaric!” I have met and known people who have lost their hair and experienced other debilitating side effects from contemporary cancer treatments. In our day and age of high tech, please don’t tell me such “cures” are anything less than primitive barbarism.”

“Scientist have yet to get that the rise in skin cancer over the last few decades parallels exactly with the increased usage of sun-block, sun-tan and other related sun care skin products. Sounds too incredible to be true but yes, the SPF products they brainwash you into believing protects you is what’s causing the skin cancer! It contains toxic ingredients and as you liberally smear it on like a conscientious (obedient) consumer, it goes through the skin, the body has trouble de-toxifying it, and eventually, voila! you’ve got skin cancer! The most common-sense approach is WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING! But if you must be bare-skinned out in the sun, rub cold-pressed peanut or olive oil into your skin the night before.”

“And ladies, that tight-fitting wire bra is constricting your lymphatic system, and thus preventing it from draining toxins. What do you suppose is going to happen if the toxins that can’t get out remain in your breast? The body has to get rid of them somehow, so, if necessary, it will form tumors Much safer to wear the form-fitting type bras.”

“Going through the grocery line today I saw the checker wearing a pin representing one of the cancer societies. They’re having one of their campaign drives and the checker asked the buyer in front of me if she would please donate. Obligingly she pulled out a few dollars but I saw the worthless crap she was buying for food and just wanted to yell and scream:

“Aren’t you even going to question why they haven’t found a cure after 50 years?!!! Doesn’t that indicate to you that something is wrong?”

What is wrong, of course, is the complete unawareness that the processed groceries being bagged for her --- later to be turned into carcinogens by heat, microwave or freezer --- AND her toxic personal feminine hygiene products is the REAL cause of cancer, and if she would just stop ingesting poisons in her body SHE WON’T GET CANCER!!!

But let’s give more billions to the worthy cause. In another 50 years they just might discover the cause and then synthesize some miraculous drug”

ANYTHING INGESTED INTO THE BODY THAT IS UNNATURAL OR FOREIGN WHICH DOES NOT SUPPORT ITS NORMAL OPERATIONS IS HARMFUL AND THE BODY WILL TRY TO EXPEL IT.

11. LAW: Drugs do not heal a body. Although they may be used in very limited situations in conjunction with other workable therapies the true healing agent for a body is good food and proper nutrition. Without good food and proper nutrition the body cannot effectively recover from any illness, sickness or disease.

I didn't think that drug was still on the market. My cancer was discovered at the same time that drug was, I thought, taken off the market. THat was 6 years ago.

As a Breast Cancer patient, I have set up www.after-cancer.com to tell others about some of the products and medically-approved treatments that help with handling side effects from hormonal drugs. These are the ones we are on for five years after treatment, and side effects can be nasty. As everyone's experiences are different, doctors and nurses often don't have time to go through all the options - so hopefully my website will help.
