Hi my name is Bernadette I am 24 and I was going to call a doctor to take my ovaries out because 5 years ago i had a cyst on my oovarie and well every time i get my Period i am in so much pain that birth control does not even help can anyone help me with this advice. I dont feel that i am going to have kids anyway because i cant even keep a relatioship Please Help

I had a cyst on one ovary and was to have the ovary removed and a hysterectomy since I was told that way I would not need to take any more hormone replacement. When I awoke I was told they took the wrong ovary so they tried to save the sick ovary by cutting out the cyst which resulted in the ovary rupturing into my abdomen and then they accidentally cut into my bowels so I had bowel surgery.
Since I was only 50 years old and no ovaries left I am now taking hormone replacement therapy daily and have experienced problems with being tired, depressed, hot flashes, water retention, joint pain and memory problem and problem sleeping through the night and it has been this way for five years now.
I would recommend every women to make sure she keeps her ovaries unless she has evidence that she has ovarien cancer.

I have to have a hysterectomy soon and I have to make a decision on should I have my ovaries removed. I am at risk for heart disease because, I'm taking medication for colesterol,diabetes,and high blood pressure, but I have a cyst on my ovary she said they have gotten smaller. I am 46 will be 47 this year what shall I do.

i was recently told i had a cycst on ovary. sugery was only option for removal, they did lapscope
when to MD went in they found not a cycst but another ovary there were two ovaries on right side and one on the left. they still removed the two on the right even though they were fully functional. my right fallopian tube was also removed .. for some reason this doesn't seem right .. has anyone heard of two ovaries on one side.. please write me....... MD stated no need for hormones since i stll have ovary on left but my emotions are up in knots

I am going to have a hysterectomy on August 25, and am trying to make the decision whether to remove my ovaries. I'm 49, have a history of breast cancer in my family and have acceptable cholesterol levels. My doctor presented this as a personal decision, and stated that the reason to remove them is for prevention of cancer. I'm trying to find out the consequences of removal. How will it affect me? Will it limit the type of HRT that I can take if I need it etc.?
