why are the estrogens in contraceptives not mentioned as a risk factor? Are they not a risk factor?

Breast Cancer forms in tissues of the breast, usually the ducts (tubes that carry milk to the nipple) and lobules (glands that make milk). It occurs in both men and women, although male breast cancer is rare.

Firstly,Skin Deep is a EWG site, where you can look up over 25,000 products (shampoos, soaps, nail care, hair dye, and cosmetics, etc). After my BC scare, I did a in the trash sweep of my bathroom.
Secondly, Envior. Working Group has a website, where you can look up pesticide exposure of different veggies and fruits, and country of growing origin. It's valuble info. Peppers (all kinds), topped the list, btw.
Also, check out Breast Cancer Action's website and see "Think Before You Pink". And lastly, Dr Susan Love (Former BC Surgeon UCLA) is working on a breast pap smear, and her Breast Book and Menopause books are fantastic.

Since learning about some of the nasty carcinogenic stuff in cosmetics I've tried to stick only to companies that work directly with the Breast Cancer Fund or have joined the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics. Those companies promise to eliminate chemicals linked to cancer from their products.
For example, I switched from Sally Hansen's nail hardener to one from Nail-Aid (www.nailaidcares.com)-- they support the BCF and their products are free of formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate.

Many of the vegetables mentioned are thought to be couter-productive for women on an AI. I wonder if this is has any basis in fact? beth

Historically, after the missionaries invaded Hawaii and gradually convinced 'the natives' that they were 'sinful' and that the women should should cover their breasts.
After a few generations the breast cancer rate shot through the ceiling.
We are most 'diseased' where the sun does not shine.
Yes, chemical pollution has a traumatic effect on the body but, I am convinced that, the primary cause of breast cancer in women is the
ridiculous and repressed approach to sunbathing (with temperance) and forcing women (by indecency laws) to not dare expose their breasts to natural sunlight.
Our culturally based religious perversity is taking its toll on women.
Shame...shame....shame.....

Yes, women will ultimately benefit when we "take back control of our health." But avoiding environmental estrogens isn't the kind of thing an individual can be held fully accountable for. (And the data supporting the use of IC3 is primarily from animal studies).
This piece begins by citing "risk factors" for breast cancer that are NOT within the realm of personal control, e.g., onset of menses, that many researchers are linking to estrogenic environmental pollutants. True: those of us who can afford it will protect our daughters better by purchasing milk from cows raised without growth hormones and using glass bottles rather than plastic.
But the industries that produce those products should be held accountable, too! It's a serious matter of public health.
