There have been lots of pros and cons regarding coffee drinking over the years. My mother lived to be 98 and was so addicted to strong coffee, we made jokes about it. I am almost 85 and have always been a big coffee drinker, a little less and weaker coffee as I get older for my B/P is a little high and I'm on medication for it. I am a type 2 diabetic, tho not on medication, rather diet controlled. Have drunk colas at times, but never addicted to them. Always have taken supplemental vitamins and minerals.

A study reported in the New England Journal of Medicine reported that pancreatic cancer incidence has a strong positive association with coffee consumption. IOW, drinking coffee increases the risk of getting pancreatic cancer, if this study is valid. Compared to cigarette smoking, coffee drinking is worse -- in regards to pancreatic cancer. Compared to cigar or pipe smoking, or drinking alcohol, drinking coffee was far more likely to increase your risk of getting cancer of the pancreas.

Al I know is that I hear the word "antioxidant" and it makes me feel better about the product! Seriously, I love coffee, but I cannot get past the three cup mark without getting heart palpitations which I know can't be a good thing! Moderation, plus the fact that coffee can be expensive, keeps my intake at my limit. www.TheBakersHat.com
