Pets Can Pose Health Risks for Children

Pet owners, especially those who are pregnant or have young children, should avoid using spot-on type flea and tick products. These products, which are applied monthly to the back of the animal, contain a high concentration of pesticide (e.g. permethrin, phenothrin, cyphenothrin, etofenprox, fipronil, imidacloprid). People are exposed to dangerous levels of pesticide whenever they come in contact with pets that have been treated with a spot-on product.
