Keeping Teens from Smoking: Lady Gaga, Please Stub It Out!

Adults get to make own decisions and as long as it's not an illegal activity I don't see a problem. FDA can't enforce anything on anyone in their private life. That's a freedom we have of making our own decisions. If it's a wrong but LEGAL one so be it. It's up to parents to keep kids from smoking. I have two myself and do not wish to have the government all up in my business.

HI I’M 15 YEARS OLD. Now that I have your attention,

I don’t know how familiar you are with any kind of art, but that’s what this is. This is art. Lady Gaga, is an artist. She is playing a character; painting a picture for America.

Also, America’s youth! I AM America’s youth, and I am going to smoke if I want to, and not smoke if I don’t want to. It has absolutely nothing to do with Lady Gaga smoking a cigarette backstage because she was giving a CHARACTER PORTRAYAL.

Excuse my audacity, but it’s people like you who are a prime example of the theory, “you most heavily criticize people’s flaws that you are guilty of yourself”. Your accusation that America’s teenagers seeing this woman smoke a cigarette is going to make us think it’s cool, is synonymous with you being BRAINWASHED with anti-tobacco adds, and that tobacco is, what, killing the US’s teens? Ma’am, YOU are the one who is a victim of the media here. YOU are the one who is going to preach about the most convincing commercial you’ve seen on TV. YOU are in the same grouping of people that is going to brush aside the only thing that will save this country, ART. Bringing people together and becoming unified was what we were found on. Generally, art that has the ability to unify has been distributed by the media. DO NOT criticize someone of Lady Gaga’s stature until YOU have had the ability to bring as many people together as she has through ART. Not like you with your meek little blog post, attempting to bring people together through hatred and spitefulness.

The majority of America is killing themselves with a high cholesterol level. Much more significant then any tobacco company. And isn’t it ironic the government also makes money off of mass food distribution to corporate fast-food companies?

And isn’t it funny that the majority of bloggers are overweight from doing nothing but sitting behind their computer all day, like some life-sucking shield? I hope you are in healthy shape for your prides sake.

WAKE UP. This woman has a potential to save us from tearing each other apart. And when America dies, it will be because of people like you.

I work in theater...that's definitely a fake cigarette she's 'smoking'. You can tell because you 'blow' out the front of the cigarette. Nothing is coming out of her mouth.

I think Lady Gaga (aka Stefani Germanotta) is a very talented singer, songwriter and performer. However, I have long been troubled by her constant need to work smoking/cigarettes into her song lyrics and music videos. WHY?? I have lost many relatives to smoking, my mother is fighting lung cancer at this very moment. I am lost as to how an intelligent woman like GaGa can set this example for her "little Monsters". Is the trying to kill them off???

I've never smoked or done any sort of drugs in my life. I've stayed as far away from smokers as anyone can. I'm 46 and I have lung cancer. Sometimes it doesn't matter what you do. We've all gotta die of something. Who the hell cares if Lady GaGa or Robert Pattinson smoke? It's their right! It's everyone's right and you can't take that away. Just because people are on TV or in the movies doesn't mean that they have less rights than everyone else. This is America for christ's sake. As far as i see it, you- who think that we can and should take away someones freedom to do something is just as disgusting as smoking.

I started smoking when I was 20, mostly weed but now also cigaretts and cigarrs. We're all going to die sooner or later, and I'm gonna have a hell of a good time. I'd rather die at 40 while knowing I had a fun life, than at 90 only to look back at a life with no good food, no fun, no drugs, nothing but a boring job/slavery and constant working out. I say: Start smoking, do drugs, go bungyjumping, party all night, have a nice life and die early (who want to become old and senile anywayz?)

Must we promote more of a nanny state than we already have? The police have better things to do than cite juvenile smokers. My old friend Milt said, "Laws are for when brains run out." Shows you how we've gone into massive decline, doesn't it? Parents are the ones to guide their kids, not Lady Gaga--or the government. If they smoke anyway, they can always quit when they develop brains of their own or look at the facts.
