Not a conspiracy. Just an example of people that have no regard for responsible business practices. Just irresponsible manufacturers. Remember that China produces nothing without government approval. The Chinese government controls every aspect of industry and export. Our government continues to allow these kind of imports from countries that show a disregard from human safety and health. Stop trading with these manufacturers.

Our government can impose fines to those American companies that import these type of goods. If Walmart would lose money selling them, they wouldn't buy them from the Chinese and sell them to us.

We’ve had enough of toxic metals in kids products. Please support the Center for Environmental Health’s work in eliminating toxics from our lives. Take action today to tell your reps to support the Children’s Toxic Metals Act (HR 4428), banning cadmium and other toxic metals from jewelry for children.

Twelve percent of the 103 items that the US Consumer Product Safety Commission investigation tested, from New York, Ohio, Texas and California, contained at least 10 percent cadmium, with a single item test claimed to be 91 percent cadmium.

Dianne of CA clearly doesn't understand the toxicity of cadmium. I suggest that she do a bit of research before making idiotic comments. http://bit.ly/5qM8jU

I purchase a lot of jewlery from the sanrio store, and I'm pretty sure these products are imported from asia. So I'm a bit freaked out wondering if my jewelery has cadmium.

Elizabeth of NY 10:12AM January 15, 2010

When will we learn not to import anything from other countries, specifically Asian ones. We continually hear these horror stories about harmful, and/or deadly toxins used in the manufacturing of children's toys and more. Solution... stop buying from them and make our own!!!
