It is my experience that the American Teens have no points o reference vis-a-vis their pers in other countries and xcept for blue jeans, rock and other American features, the foreign teens ar better educated, mannered and with a sense of purpose and socio-political development.

Hence, a Peer-to-Peer program works much better than an adult-to-teens or children program. And yet there are no such efforts in the U.S. Pity!

The creation of a Dept.of Youth could help obliterate the gap if properly positioned and managed, including Teens! Youth Programs attracting and helping teens from the street and gangs into something they desire - much like the FESNOJIV successful Venezuelan project that launched over 150 Youth Orchestras - and saved thousands, is just one effort. And there are many others we tried to start under the JFK/Bobby Kennedy era. Maybe now under and with the help of President Obama, BUT... without the right kind of motivation across board, money has no value! And there is plenty of it where credibility comes into play.

I'm just a mom, who's 4 children are all grown, but I would like to say that I totally agree with this article and would also give some brains up to age 30 before they mature.
