Kelly of VA - I am working mother. I have a 15 year old daughter, a 13 year old daughter and 10 year old soon. I'm sure sometimes they feel just like you do. But what I want them to do is just stop me in my tracks. We get so busy that we sometimes don't realize our own children our quietly try to reach out to us. So I'm sure your parents would appreciate if you just say STOP! I really need to talk.

Good luck sweetie.

I am 13 years old and I'm so stressed out I just randomly bust into tears. I can never sleep, and I have headaches all the time. My parents are always at work or on the phone or out of the house and I can never talk to them about anything. I don't ever see them and I feel like everything is my fault and that I have to do everything!

When our 16 year old was in elementary school, we started doing "Good Thing & Bad Thing" before bedtime each night. Mom, Dad, and child all expressed one good & one bad thing. It gave us a window into our child's life that we would have missed had we not established that habit. If Mom or Dad were out of town, we would call them at bedtime to do our special 'sharing time' and it helped us stay connected.

I am so grateful to my girlfriend who shared this idea with me when our child was still very small. I think we still have a good relationship with him -- but now we talk about our days over dinner, rather than right before bed.

They stress me out, I stress them out. This works for us.
