I Waited in Line 3 Hours to Get a Swine Flu Shot for My Child

I was raised by parents who did not vaccinate us for religious reasons. I had severe measles - with complications - when I was 9 years old. I spent two weeks in bed and developed pneumonia. I was very fortunate to have survived. I also had mumps, several bouts of flu, whooping cough, and virtually every other preventable disease. Thankfully, I was spared polio.
Those of you who are opposed to vaccines are, quite frankly, ignorant. I don't blame my parents for what they did, because they believed they were doing the right thing for us. But I had NO hesitation whatsoever having my daughter vaccinated against all of the childhood diseases that I suffered through. She has asthma, and she gets flu vaccines EVERY YEAR without fail, and has been doing so since she was very young. She is now 22 years old and has NEVER had any side effects.
Perhaps we should put all of you non-vaccinating lunatics in your own town somewhere so that you can learn firsthand what it is like to be fully-exposed to infectious diseases without exposing the rest of the vulnerable population. Perhaps it would OPEN YOUR EYES a bit. Goodness knows, they need to be opened!

I would never knowingly wait in line to put a substance into my kids that has not been thoroughly tested it was fast tracked by the FDA to market it without scientific data about its reliability... not to mention the other toxic substances put into the vaccine used as "binders".... yeah it might not effect negatiively YOUR child but it does negatively effect some i am not willing to take the risk that my child will be part of the some.

Your lucky its avaliable to you.... I would wait 3hrs to get it for my sons, who are a tier 1. Its not even being offered around where we live....

It's nice to see at least ONE normal, sane person responding to this posting by Nancy. I recieved the FluMist H1NI at my hosptital as I work in patient care. If they would have let me though, I would have gladly had one of my two teenage children have the vaccine instead of myself. Oddly they have had THREE H1NI vaccine clinics in Des Moines already and we as yet have even ONE in Iowa City. My daughter and wife are home today with what we expect is H1N1 infections and will probably only be a matter of time befor my son catches it. So far other than a sore throat, an off and on mild fever, and a whole lot of coughing, into the 4th day my daughter seems to be weathering the infection without any major complications.

My heart goes out to the family that had to wait nearly 3 hours or 180 minutes or 10800 seconds just to get a vaccine for their child. That 10800 seconds could easily have meant the difference between life or death. It was criminal to have to wait that long. This total lack of response by our doctors, our hospitals and our society is unacceptable. Someone MUST pay - but who? My heart goes out to the family but all such tests of stress are from God we have been told. So maybe God should pay?? Who knows? In any event somebody should be tortured for this untimely medical treatment - whoever makes an easy scape goat. No one should have to wait more than 1 minute or 60 seconds for their salvation from this pandemic. Yes, it is truly a pandemic - a pandemic of fear, stupidity, ignorance and terror promoted by our media, the experts we see on TV and last, but not least, the fear machine set in place by the Cheney-Bush gang and continued by the Obama gang.

We showed up early and waited 1 1/2 hours at a Boston Pediatricians office to get the h1n1 vaccine. I'm very relieved to have my children vaccinated because they did not have enough vaccine for everyone in line.
