I developed Type 1 diabetes as an infant after a viral infection. Viruses and vaccines are suspected triggers of Type 1 diabetes and other genetic autoimmune diseases. I was always fed healthy organic baby food (homemade fruits and veggies) and breast fed. I was an otherwise healthy normal weight normal baby. If one more IDIOT tries to tell me that my mom must have put Coke in my bottle or gave me a sugar IV, they'd better be prepared for what will be coming. It won't be pretty. Unless you have a PhD or MD, or have Type 1 diabetes yourself, don't open your mouth. These comments are filled with ignorance. The public hates 'diabetics' and lumps them all together. They don't want to listen. Even though we Type 1s didn't do this to ourselves, people seem to hate us. Is it because we take needles and draw blood to live? Because they assume we will likely become disabled and extremely ill (on dialysis, blind, amputees, etc.)in the future? If you don't have Type 1 diabetes, be thankful, and leave all the uneducated comments to yourself.

Skeptics; please go to the following URLs and read about a clinical trial which is in progress TODAY at Massachusetts General Hospital.

There is a method of getting rid of the specific immune cells which attack PARTS of the pancreas, NOT the whole organ! Then, the stem cells found in almost every child can repair the pancreas!

Dennis, you are highly uninformed.

If you have a DEAD pancreas, which is what happens in Type 1 Diabetes, you can't bring it back to life. It's dead. You can be on all the diets you like and you will still waste away and die. The body needs small amounts of insulin ALL the time, even if not eating. How, might I ask, can a dead pancreas produce insulin? It can't!

Please know the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Type 1 is an autoimmune disease with measurable antibodies (in most cases) that within a short time totally destroy the insulin producing beta-cells of the pancreas.

Dennis, people like you, perpetuate the myth that all kinds of diabetes (and there are many now... LADA, MODY and so on) are the same. They are not!

I think they need to focus on what stress does to your body. I have been in customer service for about ten years. I was diagnose with type 1 diabetes at age 37. I believe that stress, and living in the D.C. metro area contributed greatly to my illness. But to be healthy, you must eat right, and excercise. Eating junk, and counter balancing it with insulin really isn't the way to go. I know it sounds hard; but I gave up sweets, and heavy carbs all together.

This news article is garbage very untrue I am a type 1 diabetic and have lost many jobs because of it I have also taken emoployers to court and won many jobs dont like the needles the bloody finger sticks and are highly uneducated abouted diabets this leads to many problems at work for people with diabetes also try finding health insurence you see health insurence is for healthy people not people with diabetes in some rre cases you get a lady such as the one mentioned in this article. In the good old usa they like sweep diabetic problem under the rug its a major problem and greatly changes the lives of people in a negative way.

Any kind of Diabetes can be reversed easily by maintaining stringent nutritional guidelines. Many called "chronic" diabetics have actually cleared all adverse symptoms within days or weeks, by simply avoiding foods that contribute to the illness, while replacing them with preferable nutritional standards. http://www.healingnews.com/Healing_Diabetic_article101.html

There is much we do not know, yet every day new ways come out that are much less invasive than conventional AMA standards mandating drugs, chemicals, and sometimes surgery, etc. http://www.HealingNews.com
