My 6 yr old has expressed an interest in planting a garden. He is very into the food pyramid and how to get all his veggies in. Luckily he and my soon to be 3 yr old are great eaters. But I do question the radishes. Does anyone every eat a radish? We are starting small, so this my be a good time to get a little variety by adding a single radish plant. Right now I think success with the garden is key. We may not eat them, but we will do our best to grow them.

Living in Iowa, many of us have yards and the weather to grow some vegetables. My grandson wants to grow some this year in his family garden. They asked me my recomendations, I opted for a green pepper plants. They are prolific and sturdy. Pumkins take much more area and stems sometimes will break and not get a crop.

But oh so fun and tasty! Strawberries are recomended for fruit, try everbearing and have fruit to pick all summer long.

Obama White House Garden? OBAMA WHITE HOUSE GARDEN??? Whatever happened to the "Victory Garden," when people were encouraged to plant gardens as their own, individual contribution to our nation and to help themselves? Victory Gardens stood as a symbol of American ingenuity, hard work, and individual enterprise --- good things which seem to have been lost in today's rush to valuing collectivism over individualism and to following rock-star-like leaders!

And that it is, for a fact; isn't there some appropriate proverb here like: "wisdom granted begins on the knees?" Hey, I like that. Good luck on getting the President out there to pull weeds, but I have a feeling that he will. And besides, people have a high respect for a person man or woman who doesn't mind getting their hands dirty, literally. Graet!!! Keep up the good work America, per the O'Bamas' example.

Since you are so enthusiastic about a garden at the White House, please give us a hint of what to expect by publishing a photo of the Obama garden in the yard of their home in Chicago.

Why do conservatives whine about socialism when someone brings up universal healthcare, but then cry the blues when Obama decides that socialized agriculture, as practices in this country for the last 40 years, might just be a really, really, bad idea. I'm also from New Hampshire, and it bothers me that New Hampshire receives less than $1 in federal money for every $1 collected from New Hampshire in taxes. In other words, New Hampshire is a "donor" state. The states that collect more federal dollars than they pay out are primarily the bible-belt and the midwest plain states, in other words, the states that have a large amount of commercial farming concerns collecting dollars from the U.S. government for virtually no reason. I'm glad that the likes of ADM is getting cut off. Good riddance.

If you are a parent or just want to grow kids favorite plant.

The TickleMe Plant can now be grown indoors year round. It really does MOVE when you Tickle It! The leaves instantly close and even the branches droop when Tickled!. I heard they sent a TickleMe Plant Greenhouse to the whitehouse. That would be so much more fun then having kids grow lima beans in school.

I found the TickleMe Plant Greenhouse at http://www.ticklemeplant.com It even produces pretty pink flowers!

You better plant your gardens now, America because next year there will be shortages because OBAMA will be cutting our AG programs! We'll be needing all of the gardens that we can get because our food prices will be soaring higher than our eagles! Once our nation's storages and silos are empty...you'll be on your own, folks. So plant today and save all you can for next year:)

Yep, prime example of why ALL Americans need to grow their own vegetables because Michelle's wonderful husband is going to cut the AG programs.

Our nation's AG programs pays our farmers to grow certain crops, at certain times of the year, each year. With the purposed AG cuts, farmers will cut the amount that they will grow and produce. Therefore, we'll all our home gardens.

Cutting AG programs will also reduce USDA foods that feed our nation's public schools, reduce the foods for commodities for our poor and elderly in each state, reduce the amount of foods for our state food pantries, reduce foods for our state emergency funds and military, reduce the amount of foods we trade to foreign countries and reduce the amount of foods that non-profit organizations purchase each year to feed 3rd world countries.

Cutting AG programs will also increase the food prices in America again! 30% increase last year and its expected to increase another 20% this year. Next year? You'll see less foods at a even higher price, in the farmer's markets and grocery store because SOMEONE cut the farmer's pay! How stupid!

We have public schools that recieve USDA foods for their lunch programs that ALL tax payers pay for and yet the tax payers who send their children to public schools, are charged again for the same food!!!!!! How stupid! And if you don't give your child the money everyday for the USDA hot lunch that you've already paid for? Your child will be given a cold USDA alternative lunch that is not nutritionally comparable as the the USDA hot meal! THIS NEEDS TO STOP! ABOLISH ALL PUBLIC SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAMS IN AMERICA!

It is a proven fact that all children who are fed the same hot lunch at their schools, produce healthier children and higher test scores. Healthier children reduces the amount of medical services needed. Well fed, healthier children also produce higher test and grades scores in school because they are healthier.

Did you know that some children in America, the only meal that some children recieve for the entire day is at school?!!! And did you know that the poorest group of people in America today is our nation's children? America's children are our nation's poorest class of people who live on or below the poverty level, thus requiring more medical attention, children living without proper nutrition and have lower test and grade scores.

Our nation's children are her future, regardless if the child is poor nor rich. Giving ALL children in our nation's public schools a hot USDA hot lunch would insure a healthier, more productive, active, and educated nation. It is the RIGHT thing to do...feed our public school children everyday a hot USDA lunch and without ANOTHER charge!
