I think the choice is simple-vaccinate your kids and have them may or may not "get" autistic or not have them vaccinated at all and let them catch mumps, measles, whooping cough, rubella, hepatits,etc. Or heaven forbid there be a new outbreak of polio in the US and there be a epidemic occuring because someone was afraid their kid would become autistic. I am autistic. I am a mom of a high functioning autistic 6yo son. I am 31 years old. I don't believe for one minute that vaccines cause autism. Even if I did wake up tomorrow and find out that autism is caused by vaccines and had to do all over again, I would get him vaccinated anyway. I'd rather my kid be "different" than be gravely ill, or worse yet, dead.

What did the geniuses replace thimerosal to preserve their unnecessary vaccines with aluminum and formaldehyde Wow that sounds healthy and something I want to give my child every year to possibly prevent a cold.This ignorance is part of the re3ason for the first time in a long time our children are not expected to outlive their parents. Life expectancy is going down not up and vaccine requirements are going up.

2 names Hannah Poling and Bailey Banks. Need I say more, we can't call it autism and expect any one to listen. So call it mitochondrial disorder and ADEM, these are caused by the vaccines, which in turn causes "autistic like symptoms", do you people really think we are that stupid? And as far as this story goes, the MMR never contained thimerosal, so get all of the facts straight before you bash parents, and real science, in dealing with vaccine injured children. If your child was normally developing and you took them in for the well baby visit and within a week they had changed so dramatically they are not the same child you would be upset to, no the diagnostic criteria is not the reason, the california study just proved that you fools open your eyes, before it affects your family too, I got vaccines too, 5, my son got 9 in one day, and that is the norm now, check the vaccine schedule differences from your child to today and then maybe you will see the light.

My sister went to get the flu shot and at the time they asked her if she was allergic to anything. She replied with yes, Mercury. They reassurred her that the shot did not contain mercury, when in fact it did in its technical term. She then developed many symptoms of mercury poisoning. It took her a year to get it out of her system.
Do you think that these kids could be having an allergic reaction to something in the shots? The reason I say shots is what other common denominator do all of these kids have.

Mercury was removed from vaccines in Europe in 1992. There was no change in the autism rate.
In Denmark 440,000 vaccinated children were compared with 96,000 unvaccinated children. There was no difference in autism between the two groups and no association between development of autism and the age of vaccination.
If there is an association, it is extremely small. Do not forget that 1 child in 1000 who gets measles will die.

First of all, I would like to say that if you don't have a child with Autism,...then you have absolutely no business commenting on such an emotional subject!
To the person that said "it may be an evolutionary phenomenon",..you obviously don't have a child with
Autism. Because if you did,...you would truely know how rediculous that statement is.
Autism can effect many different types of children: no matter race, lifestyle, or finances. It is an incredibly difficult disorder to deal with because it changes everything in your life!
And a comment to Sydney of MD. Parents don't say that their children have Autism, they are diagnosed by physicians. And obviously you don't know what you are talking about either,..because if you had a child with Autism...that would be "the only thing you would worry about"...it takes your child from you.
To the public...please stop posting such rediculous statements when you have absolutely no idea of what you are talking about!

Identification of the disease has definitely increased in the past decade or so. Similar to (but more serious than) the increase in diagnosis of ADD and ADHD.

I think we need to examine the issue of mass medication as a whole. Vaccines are required in order for many children to be allowed in public schools. We are being forced to take a medication. The same goes for public water fluoridation. Fluoride only works topically (applied directly to the teeth), but for some reason we are forced to ingest it through our water supply and foods. Fluoride is neurotoxic, which is why doctors tell new parents NOT to use tap water for formulas. Could fluoride be involved with autism? Not too long ago, a professor who is on Colgate's payroll suppressed his PhD student's study on the link between osteosarcoma (bone cancer) and water fluoridation. Do people really think that fluoride in the water supply is necessary? Shall we start adding cholesterol medications or aspirin to the water since heart disease is a bigger issue than cavities? The benefit for the greater good outweighs the risks of the few people who might be sensitive, allergic, or have other adverse effects? Sounds like communism.

It's important to remember that there's not necessarily an increase in cases of autism, just identification of those with the disorder. The diagnostic category was expanded which accounts in part for the greater numbers, but there's also better awareness of the spectrum of autistic disorders, so more people are being identified earlier.

looks like big pharma and big govrnment won again. If anyone did the research they would see it's already been proven mercury causes autism. Exact same symptoms for autism and mercury poisonings. Does the public know about all the documents that came up missing about autism and mercury. Does the public know the government will never admit what they knew all along autism and mercury poisoning is the same thing. Does the public know Andrew Wakefields phone was tapped by our government? Sounds like a cover up to me. Obama should be helping these children, they suffer everyday and do not get the education or health care they need; unless of course you want to drug them and that is covered. Big pharma and big government one in the same. God bless these children.
