It is a terrible tragedy that the Kanowitz's lost their daughter. With proper medical care, she should not have died from the flu. But that doesnt change the fact that the flu shot has not been proven safe or effective for young children. The Families fighting Flu is totally funded by an unrestricted grant from MedImmune, Inc., GlaxoSmithKline, Sanofi Pasteur, Novartis Vaccines, CSL Biotherapies, and The Clorox Company. Making this group an extension of the pharmaceutical industry, not a grassroots organization. If Families fighting flu want more people to vaccinate then they should work on developing a safer vaccine, one without thimerosal, aluminum, and other harmful additives.

If you want sob stories to help change your mind I can tell you about the 24 days I spent in the hospital due to a flu shot. By the time I was done telling you about the 2 spinal taps, multiple EMG's, telling my children good-bye (I was told to get my affairs in order), the rehab unit where I learned to walk again or my $140,000 medical bill I am pretty sure you would run from the vaccine as fast as you could (by the way I still cant run due to damage to my feet)

My son reacted badly to his vaccinations.

I would rather take my chances with the flu.

My heart goes out to those people but we all know our children best.

Your headlines indicate your going to reveal something special that I should know about aspirin, and all I find is an article about flu shots and the PTA

As a mother who has experienced a severe reaction to the flu shot (flu symptoms appeared within 1 hour of the shot, my arm swelled up to the size of a baseball at the injection site, severe pain at the injection site for several weeks, and I could not lift my arm to shoulder height for 8 weeks), I personally will NOT let my child have the flu shot. Who knows if she will have the same reaction? I am not going to play Russian Roulette with my child's health.

By the way, the one time I had the flu shot I was in my early 30's, healthy, fit and had not gotten sick at all that year.
