Autism and a Link to Brain Development

if you are pregnant and you are in school can this trigger how smart your baby already is?

I believe there are many subsets or types of autism causes. One is the birth process, in which we immediate cord clamp and give birth drugs too much. The other is in utero infections, either having a direct affect or indirect affect on the development of the brain, via inflammation, cytokines etc. Third is other infections in utero such as mothers with undetected lyme disease, mothers with mycoplasma, or fathers, herpes viruses, measles viruses, and others. For some children, a simple flu infection can cause brain changes in utero, especially if mothers use tylenol to control fevers, both with that infection, or the fever accompyaning vaccine fevers. Chemicals, and toxins, must play a role, such as mothers with amalgams, PCB's and Dioxins etc. I think what is happening are perfect storms. Ingestion of mothers eating MSG rich foods can also cause it. The variety and the patterns may be different, and or overlap. EMF exposures are also to blame. So, whenever the brain is most vulnerable, obviously, we are exposing ourselves to numerous oxidative stressors.

Compact-fluorescent light bulbs CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS!!!

Mercury leaks found as new bulbs break--The Boston Globe.

...Even cleaning-up the dust from a broken bulb is very dangerous...

Thanks Britt,

I would also love to hear information about kids who did NOT get shots, but still developed Autistic-like tendencies. I'm in one of those situations.

I have two children (boys).

- The older one is 7yrs old and has 'Aspergers' (mostly social problems). He had a partial set of vaccines (no MMR, Hepetitus or Chicken Pox).

- The second son is 3yrs old and has had NO vaccines. He has a more typical form of Autism, though it's primarily a language delay. I'm optimistic that he'll eventually be 'mainstreamed' though (he's making great progress).

Though these are only two cases, it makes me wonder whether vaccines are only part of the problem. My second son had no vaccines, yet has autism. On the other side though, what if he already had a tendency towards autism, and vaccines would have made it worse. Or what if other chemicals in the environment are contributing to the problem.

More study definitely needs to be done. But it's unfortunately not as simple as 'MMR = autism".

P Boggs, search in medical about strokes. My head injury did the same and yes, the other side of the brain relearns speech and gets back memory, all very slowly. 12 years later I still pop up using college words in sentences, and wonder where the word came from, and ask if I used it properly. The answer is always yes, but I still look them up in the dictionary, to be sure. Still amazing myself. I get Alerts from brain studies due to my gson having adhd and bipolar, not near as bad as this autism; which I do know people with kids suffering from it, and its terrible, as if they've received a stroke, but takes much more intense therapy in all areas, hourly and daily. I thank God my kids never got it.

I keep looking for studies on children/adults diagnosed with Autism if only some of them got vaccinated or all?

I have a 4 year old son diagnosed, I cant tell you what level of function, med to high function would be my guess. He still does not say sentences but can understand more with our "early intervention" program at our school district.

He got his MMR at 15 months, speech slowed down. The Flu shot at 24 months, which they did not keep record of(very coincidental) He got very sick for 1 week, screamed and cried ever since. I could potty train him at 18 months, he was walking at 10 months, met all his milestones 1-2 earlier, but his speech completely stopped. I just thought he was in the terrible two's a few month early.

He still does not call me mommy. My husband and I can't seem to get a good nights sleep due to his night tremors.

He was our 2nd child, we have recently had a 3rd. Im not worried about he likelihood of baby Blake "developing" autism, we are refusing to vaccinate her until she is much older, the delivery hospital said she needed a hepatitis b shot after birth, come to find out hepatitis b is an STD and they do not need that shot until they are 18! This made me so angry. Parents, the likelihood of our kids developing POLIO is less than 1 in 140 children being diagnosed with Autism! Stand up to your pediatrician and tell them you want to see the vaccine bottle, you want to write the LOT# down, and research the bottles origin. You can always play the "religious reasons" card at school to enroll your child.

I will be devastated if I find out that I caused my sons Autism. I will never let another doctor or pharmaceutical company tell me whats best for my child, they are a business not a parent, besides 50% of doctors choose to NOT vaccinate their children...I read this on a report online, you can google it.

The best we can do is alleviate the symptons and make their day a little better. At times I wonder if I can even get through the day, but after haveing the 3rd baby, my son calmed down and knows that she is something special, he even tried to hold her and move her, when before he couldn't stand anyone to touch him.

I recommend having another child so they can learn to share, among other things. I also recommend being more pushy wabout what vaccinations are really necessary. Kids dont need 20+ vaccines in a period of a year!

Autism for Dummies has a vaccine schedule, we will entertain it as soon as we feel baby Blake is old enough to do so.

Im in San Diego and I have a website that is being built, Im always up for email from any state of parents, familiy memebrs that want to share tips, resources etc. This is an epidemic and we all need to ban together and find out what the heck is causing this!

The medical community assumes a "gentic predisposition" claim.

The parent/caregiver/therapist side believes "vaccines are to blame"

What do you think? Someone is trying to cover their butts.

Why do we continue to put all these kids in the same box.

This is a spectrume disorder no 2 are exactly alike....until we approach this as such. The media/general public will continue to treat all persons on his spectrum the same.

Each has his own version of it...which leads me (a parent) to strongly believe there will never be one perfect pill/therapy to help.

We need a better view....THE WHOLE CHILD.

I wish the media would use this tone more. There is so much people can do RIGHT NOW to help.

I am glad they are finaly doing some studies though. What took them so long.it is sad they did not take us more seriosly sooner.
