Maybe I missed something here...

Where is the information regarding childproof bottles, etc not really being safe? I see nothing that says kids can get into these devices. 66 percent of overdosed kids feeding themselves pills doesn't mean they got into these bottles, does it? Someone could have left the medicine lying about, left the top off the bottle, dropped pills in the floor, and so forth.

That aside, yes, all the advice given here to keep medicines away from kids regardless of packaging is good advice.
