Michael Savage, at Odds With the Science

The incidence of autism is probably not increasing, but rather the incidence of DIAGNOSIS of autism is rising, partly due to the way the system works; being diagnosed with autism opens doors to a variety of treatment and therapy options that are often not available to other children. We seriously need to sort out the FACTS, the OPINIONS, and the MYTHS (like vaccine causation) about this problem, and get down to the TRUTH. What we DON'T need is the government meddling in health care and making things worse!

My son who was diagnosed at age 2 and a half is not old enough to know what a man is, let alone be told to behave like one. He is sweet and wonderful, and he does not make much noise except to show his excitement or aggravation. He missed major mile stones like pointing to eyes, nose and mouth, asking what they are, that is when I knew something was wrong. That is not something you can beat into a child!!! My son barely speaks! I'm sorry for your abuse as a child but you are making comments about something that you do not understand. You have made yourself look ignorant!

I use to listen to Savage nation but after his comments I can't listen to him I have a 3 year old with Autism who isn't sever He really doesn't have a temper He is the sweetest child you will ever meet. He isn't speaking yet but really wants to it isn't a choice I heard Savage say there s no such thing as Autism I stopped listening to him about 6 months ago. Savage has a lot of good points but has NO reality when it comes to disabilities.

I have had first hand experience with both autism and ADHD. I am finding that the people who have not had a child with autism or ADHD think it doesn't exist. Spend a day at my house. My husband and I have three beautiful children and let me tell you. We get no money or kickbacks for having an autistic child and one with ADHD. My heart breaks watching my son struggle with things typical children do everyday. It breaks my heart even more when people say mean and hateful things about autism and ADHD. Trust me I wish it didn't exist, but it does. Lets help these children and their families.

maybe if i tell my nonverbal autistic three year old to "act like a man" he'll get it together and fix his chronic constipation, his screwed up liver, and get rid of all the mercury bottled up inside him.

psychological? the guy who came up with that refrigerator mom theory is Bruno Bettelheim, he was in many ways a fraud in terms of his psycholgical credentials. also, many parents of autistic children have other kids who are fine, so why wouldn't a lousy parent screw up all of their kids?

drug companies don't like the "parents of autistic children" community, because there are thousands of parents who are filing class action lawsuits against drug companies based on the fact that there is a chance their kids got sick from being vaccinated.

i have been treating my son since he was diagnosed back in december 2007. i have yet to use any drugs on him. our doctor - who happens to be a father of an autistic child himself, aka "a brat" - has never even mentioned any drugs as being an option for helping him.

when my son had words, then lost them all by the age of two, i thought his being autistic meant he was psychogically screwed up. as we went down this road, we found that autism is an autoimmne disease.

ps - i am not a liberal... them's just the facts, plain and simple. i am actually speaking from experience, unlike this michael savage guy.

The people criticizing Savage do not listen to his show. They have a preconceived negative opinion of him because they have been brainwashed by the mainstream media, which has left them unable to think critically about any issue. All messages that are contrary to the mainstream media are met with immediate condemnation and charges of hate mongering, bigotry, racism, sexism, etc. If you do not like Savage, Limbaugh, Hannity, et al, then don't listen to them. Grow up you thinned skinned babies. We conservatives have to listen to liberal claptrap from all media sources, and you do not see us out there trying to get every loudmouthed liberal fired from their jobs.

i acquired 3 of his books as hand me downs, while reading "the savage nation" i decided to pause after page 42. I spent a few hours researching on my own becuase of the lack of factual evidence to backup his extreme views. I can say now, i am throwing these books out, or dropping in the recycle bin.

The Savage Nation isn't the only TRN show speading dis-information about autism. TRN's CEO Mark Masters Father - Roy Masters - esposes the sames lies:

Can you imagine what kind of a life an autistic child would have if he were the child's father? Just had to vent....only venting isn't helping much, I have very little tolerance for ignorant people.
