Please view Dr. Martin Fiebert's web site, which lists 219 scholarly investigations which show that women commit, and even initiate, domestic violece against their male partners, at a rate equal to or greater than men do against their female partners -

In 1971, Erin Pizzey founded Chiswick Women's Aid, the world's first battered women's refuge. ("Refuge" is the term the British use for what we in the U.S. call "shelter"). Her book "Scream Quietly Or The Neighbours Will Hear" was xeroxed by people all over the world and used as a sort of instruction manual for how to create a shelter. But Pizzey refused to submit to the orthodoxy that all couple violence is perpetrated by men and only women are ever victims. And so, those who seized control drummed her out of the movement.

Erin recently wrote a very insightful article commenting on the "spate of knife crime" you're referring to. If I were to try to summarize it, I couldn't do it justice. Read it in her own words at http://www.sossandra.org/2008/07/13/why-are-we-not-asking-the-right-questions.

I created a search engine that aggregates research about domestic violence against men. Most of the studies were conducted by professionals and experts in the field of domestic violence, and many were published in peer reviewed academic journals. The site has no relation with the people who conducted the studies. It's called DVStats.org:

People are people.. men or woman.

My ex-wife used to attack me pretty frequently just to "get a reaction". She's hit me with fists, shoes, anything she would happen to grab or could throw. Fortunately, I had quick reflexes and dodged many of the flying objects. Friends and visitors would scornfully look at me when they came over and saw holes in the walls. I'd just hang my head. I knew they'd never believe a 5'2" 102 lb woman was smacking around a 5'10", 200lb, military trained, master of destruction like myself.

But hey!, the sex was good.
